'Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Kyoto Douran' Unveils New Cast, Opening Theme, Third Promo

The Aniplex Online Fest 2024 event revealed new cast, opening theme, a second key visual (pictured), and a third promotional video for the second season of the new Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (Rurouni Kenshin) television anime series on Monday. The new season is scheduled to premiere on October 4 at 12:55 a.m. on Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block.

Tatsuya Kitani (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season) and Natori (Wind Breaker) are performing the opening theme "Iranai mono" which is previewed in the promotional video below.

The television anime adapts Nobuhiro Watsuki's historical drama manga, which ran in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1994 to 1999. Watsuki and his wife Kaoru Kurosaki launched the Hokkaido-hen (Hokkaido Arc) sequel manga in Jump SQ. in November 2016. Shueisha published the ninth volume in November 2023.

Season 1 wasn't amazing, but this next arc is the best arc in the manga, so I'll be tuning in.

@Yuno In my subjective opinion, they still managed to preserve the spirit of the title and battle shonens of those years. Although I won't lie, the first show subjectively felt more alive.

Hmm, seems ok. I honestly never watched the original anime to completion outside of catching bits and pieces of it as a kid on Toonami or so
