'Maou 2099' Reveals Additional Staff, First Promo

The Aniplex Online Fest 2024 event revealed additional staff and a promotional video for the Maou 2099 (Demon Lord 2099) television anime series on Monday. The anime is scheduled to premiere on October 13 at 12:00 a.m. on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 followed by MBS, Chukyo TV, and AT-X.

Shiyui (Undead Unluck) performs the opening theme "Hollow" and sekai is performing the ending theme "Spira." Both theme songs are previewed in the promotional below.

Ryou Andou (Demi-chan wa Kataritai) helms the anime at J.C.Staff. Yuuichirou Momose (Kumo desu ga, Nani ka?) is handling the series composition and penning the script. Ryousuke Tanigawa (Nanatsu no Maken ga Shihai suru chief animation director) is designing the characters and Tatsuya Katou (Trigun Stampede) is composing the music.

The anime series adapt Daigo Murasaki's sci-fi fantasy light novel of the same name. Murasaki won the Grand Prize at the 33rd Fantasia Taisho with the title Ken to Maou no Cyberpunk in 2020. He renamed the work to Maou 2099 and began publishing it under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko label in January 2021 with illustrations by Kureta. Kadokawa published the third volume in June 2023.

Shounen Ace Plus began serializing a manga adaptation by Kiiro Akashiro in November 2021, which discontinued last June. A new manga adaptation by Yutaka Sakurai launched in the same magazine in March 2023. The second volume went on sale on March 26 while the third volume is scheduled to go on sale on September 25.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in July 2021 and released the first volume in March 2022. The second volume shipped in June 2022, while the third volume is scheduled to release on October 15.

@ryoko6 I'm still not sure about the veracity of these leaks (some of which seem to be safe bets) but I hope they're false, as Maou 2099 looks like a pretty ambitious project from the trailer.

And the bit about the director of ReZero season 3 seems strange, especially as the animation team seems to be taking precautions with the series, in addition to making a 1h30 episode 1.

Same for Bleach.

hope the leaks about this going through production issues are false but jc staff took on a lot of animes...
