The official website of the Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) television anime announced a fourth season on Friday, commemorating the seventh anniversary of Reiji Miyajima's original manga. The new season is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

Produced by TMS Entertainment, the television anime series aired in three 12-episode seasons in Summer of 2020, 2022, and 2023. Crunchyroll simulcast the television anime series with subtitles worldwide, excluding Asia.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu, also known as KanoKari, adapts Miyajima's romantic comedy manga, which began serializing in Weekly Shounen Magazine in July 2017. Kodansha shipped the 36th volume on April 17, with the 37th volume scheduled to be released on July 17. The manga has a cumulative 13 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Miyajima began drawing a spin-off manga, titled Kanojo, Hitomishirimasu (Rent-A-(Really Shy!)-Girlfriend), in Magazine pocket in June 2020. The third volume was released in May 2022.

Kodansha USA licensed both the original and spin-off manga in July 2019 and March 2021, respectively. The 25th volume of the original manga went on sale on July 2, and the 26th volume is scheduled for a September 3 release. The third volume of the spin-off manga was released in November 2022.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu 4th Season on MAL

As someone who’s been reading this weekly since 2018 I can say this season will probably be the last anime season of the show. The Paradise Arc is without a doubt the worst arc so far in the series. The manga since that arc has had absolutely horrible pacing. Paradise Arc has some super frustrating character moments and just a lot of stupidity. The manga recovers a bit after that with Kazuya moving into Chizurus home but it sitll lags bigtime compared to most romcoms.

@GoldenCash

Tbh, I don’t think you should. Popularity equals to profitability as well as convenience in the industry and consequently convenience.

Depends with what you liked about the series.

Season 3 is where the story unironically peaked.

Season 4 will adapt the bloated "Paradise Arc" - the one story arc where the manga really took a nosedive in quality and pacing.

@Ryuseishun You don't know what triggered means if you think people answering you were triggered, and you don't seem to know that entertainment industry has always worked by giving more content to popular/profitable shows. And, again, your priorities are wrong if you think giving a new season to a popular show, whether it is shit or not, is even comparable to actual harmful things like AI translations.

@Otakupervert890 330 Chapters?! Wow, I didn't know rent a gf has that much chapters. Ig it's pretty popular, do you think I should resume watching it?

Jul 15, 7:36 AM by GoldenCash

@GoldenCash why it wouldn't be? Manga is still going strong past 330 chapters. Sale are there no reason to stop a train rolling regardless what a community in the other side of the world think about it.

Rent a gf is still going

@Shinuki_n_Reborn Not only he has 9k completed series but I checked and most of the is scored from 1-3 points so can't take him seriously.

I mean, if they've animated this much, they may as well keep going.

So I come back to this out of curiosity and unsurprisingly I get a bunch of triggered replies to my comment on a series that frankly did little to deserve more seasons beyond popularity.
The entertainment industry truly is cooked, considering easy green lighting of shows like this and AI translations & company buyouts go hand in hand, ironically enough, but there IS entertainment value in following and witnessing trainwrecks, I guess.

"Somehow, Rent-a-Girlfriend returned..."

Instead of ending the anime on the series' high point, the KanoKari production committee thought it was a good idea to adapt the bloated "Paradise Arc". This was the one arc where things really went downhill for the manga. Oh well, anime onlies will finally get to see that chapter....

Honestly, my biggest concern is how the notorious Chapter 218 will be adapted... if at all.

Hopefully that particular chapter gets adapted as a OVA, because it gets very explicit for all the wrong reasons.

Agreed.

The OVA ought to be uncensored, or else viewers will only get a half baked facsimile of the series' most infamous chapter.

@Ryuseishun Guess what turns out this is popular, even if it's shit. Blame the fans, not businesses who cash in on opportunity.

PEAK MID IS BAAAACK BBY!!!

@Ryuseishun
>popular series gets another season
That's what have always happened in any industry, anime industry is not an exception, they want money and shows that are popular make it. You have your priorities in the opposite way if you think an anime getting a new season is worse than fucking AI translations and things like Kadokawa buying yet another studio to create their monopoly.

Jul 11, 9:34 PM by Ionliosite2

@Ryuseishun You couldn't detect sarcasm even if it was dancing naked with a watermelon in its head lmao!

Also, dude, you have over 9k completed entries in your account, you're complaining about stuff getting new seasons while pretty much watching everything from series you're complaining about lol

Jul 11, 9:27 PM by Shinuki_n_Reborn

@Ryuseishun Your sarcasm detectors are clearly broken.
Also they're gonna adapt that scene which will make it all worth it.

Many of these comments are laughable, here and on Twitter, Reddit, and even TikTok.

“Real peak fiction is back”. “Romcom is saved again.”

Lmao what peak? Saved from what?

Forget the shit with AI translations and buying out jp studios and publishing companies. Shit like this getting the greenlight for more seasons that easily is what has the industry so fucked.
