'Kinnikuman: Kanpeki Chоujin Shiso-hen' Announces More Cast [Update 6/23]

The official website of the Kinnikuman: Kanpeki Chоujin Shiso-hen (Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc) television anime revealed additional cast members on Saturday. The television anime is set to air with episode 0 on July 7 at 11:30 p.m. on CBC and TBS' 28 affiliated stations on the Agaru Anime programming block, followed by BS11 and Animax. Episode 0 will feature re-animated scenes from past arcs.

Akira Satou (Ao Ashi) is helming the anime at Production I.G. Makoto Fukami (Tengoku Daimakyou) is handling the series composition, and Hirotaka Marufuji (Lupin III: Part 6) is designing the characters. Yasuharu Takanashi (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu) is the music composer.

The anime adapts Yudetamago's action comedy manga, which was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1979 to 1987. The manga returned to the ShuuPlay News web magazine in 2011. Shueisha shipped the 85th volume on July 4.

Weekly Playboy serialized two sequel manga from 1997 to 2011. Shueisha released the second manga's 28th and final volume in December 2011.

Yasuharu Takanashi and FLOW (Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch) are performing the opening theme "LOVE & JUSTICE" and Mamoru Miyano, who voices the main character, is performing the ending theme "Choujin." Miyano will also perform a new version of the "Kinnikuman Go Fight!" opening theme from the original anime series as the theme song for episode 0.

It's nice to see that one of the classic battle shounens (almost the very first one, as for the first anime that could be called as such was Ring ni Kakero; it began serialization before the original Kinnikuman manga started) still receives love in the anime industry.
