'Kijin Gentoushou' Delays Broadcast to 2025

The official website of the Kijin Gentoushou (Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentoushou) television anime series announced on Wednesday that the broadcast as been postponed to 2025 due to production delays. The anime was initially scheduled to broadcast for two cours with a 1-hour special premiere on June 27.

Kazuya Aiura (Assassins Pride) helms the anime at Yokohama Animation Lab. Deko Akao (Ragna Crimson) is handling the series composition and Tarou Ikegami (Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana - The Teardrop Crystal) is designing the characters. Ryuuichi Takada (MONACA) (Summertime Render), Keiichi Hirokawa (MONACA) (Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Idoman to su), and Kuniyuki Takahashi (MONACA) (Liar Liar) are composing the music.

The anime adapts Motoo Nakanishi's historical fantasy novels which was originally penned on the novel publishing website Arcadia between January 2013 and May 2016, followed by a continuation that ran on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in September–October that year. Futabasha began publishing the novel with illustrations by Tamaki in June 2019. The 14th volume shipped in November 2023.

Yuu Satomi began serializing a manga adaptation in Monthly Action magazine in September 2021. Futabasha shipped the sixth volume on February 29.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in February 2022. The sixth light novel volume is scheduled to go on sale on August 27 while the manga's fourth volume shipped on March 19.

@AkeZZZ I never thought that a discussion of a completely harmless anime could somehow end up mentioning Hamas. But if the conditions really were so terrible and everything developed so badly, I can only sympathize with those who were expecting an adaptation of this manga.

owari da for Yokohama Animation Lab. heard there were a lot of internal issues; mass exodus because of working conditions and so on. sad for the animes picked up by the studio recently. heard the new gate anime was washed even if the manga was decent. still waiting on new saga news smh.

It was inevitable, Yokohama Animation is in a very horrible situation. Their currently airing Whisper me a love song is facing a 2-week delay, and The new gate animation quality dropped significantly. According to a leak on Twitter that the whole team working on Whisper me a love song anime left the studio because of horrible working condition and toxic workplace. They quit after EP3 and then the quality dropped massively for that anime. As remaining episodes are mostly outsourced. Every new episode has different outsourced studio working. Animators just left the studio lol, so they don't have staffs to work on this because of this it got delayed to next year. Another Yokohama anime( Tsuyokute New Saga ) was delayed in 2022 and now we don't have any news about that. I don't think Yokohama animation will be able to stay in this industry after delaying 2 anime for this long, and without staffs.

The New Gate’s quality was utterly bad, especially on the recent episode.
