'Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni' Wins Manga Taisho Award for 2024

The 2024 award list for the 17th edition of Manga Taisho, an annual Japanese manga award, has been announced. The award is decided by a panel of bookstore clerks who select the best title from manga series which have fewer than eight volumes and have released at least one volume in the last year. The first round of voting selects the nominees out of 257 titles, while the second round decides the final ranking.

Literally just read Kimi to Uchuu wo Aruku Tame ni today. Such a great manga. Really accurate to the struggles of autistic folks (even if it isn't outright stated lol).

I have a feeling that “bookstore clerks” are very much drifting towards a female audience. Is this the second year in a row that josei's manga has won the competition?
