The official website for the Mato Seihei no Slave (Chained Soldier) television anime series announced on Saturday that a second season is in production. The website also revealed a visual featuring the character Ren Yamashiro to commemorate the announcement.

The first season produced by Seven Arcs aired in 12 episodes during Winter 2024. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and simulcast it on HIDIVE.

The anime adapts Takahiro and Youhei Takemura's action fantasy manga which began serialization on Shounen Jump+ web magazine in January 2019. Shueisha published the 15th volume on February 2.

Yen Press licensed the manga in English on December 21. The sixth volume released on January 23, with the seventh volume scheduled to ship on April 16.

Synopsis
After his high school graduation, Yuuki Wakura realizes it has been five years since his sister's disappearance during a "Mato disaster." Throughout Japan, mysterious entrances have opened to a dimension called "Mato"—a demonic metropolis filled with disastrous monsters known as the "Shuuki" that threaten the safety of humans. However, a new hope arose, as the discovery of a Mato fruit that grants supernatural abilities exclusively to women allowed them to fight against the Shuuki. Due to this, a new matriarchal government was formed, establishing a female organization called the Anti-Demon Corps, which caused men to fall to the bottom of society.

When Yuuki suddenly finds himself in Mato, he is unable to escape on his own. But just as he anticipates a gruesome end by the Shuuki, a girl in a militia outfit appears and protects him. As the chief of the Seventh Unit of the Anti-Demon Corps, Kyouka Uzen is ambitious yet devalued by her own peers due to her power being deemed unusual. Now in a life-or-death situation, Kyouka takes the opportunity to find out the true potential of her superpower by using Yuuki: in order to defeat the Shuuki, he has to become her slave. Best news ever. I'm really glad this anime got a 2nd season. Big fan of the manga. Regardless of what everyone says, I though this was a great anime. Was my first anime I watched where I read the manga first. C'mon season 2!!!!

Do gods really have stopped looking over this world? Because this can't be true.

Yes let's gooooo. Here's to a better season 2 that isn't produced by Seven Arcs and if by chance it is produced by Seven Arcs they should learn from past mistakes and give it the adaptation it deserves. Till whenever it comes out then πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Mato Seihei no Slave is literally my favorite manga but the anime was such a massive dissapointment. Still hoping they can turn it around with this surprise season 2. Either way still excited. And Hanazawa Kana for Ren’s VA?! Let's go! The chiefs can turn this one around! The announcement with Ren is almost enough for me to forgive them for season 1. Give us more Ren!! Shit, now I'm riding the hype

I love the manga but the anime is so bad that I stopped watching. This story is mindless ecchi/action, so it's an unmitigated disaster when both of those are conveyed as poorly as they were in the 1st season. Here's to hoping that the 2nd season is a higher quality adaptation.

THIS WAS THE BEST NEWS I COULD GET ALL YEAR

so glad to know it was a leak, ecchi basically NEVER get s2 anymore, but 2024 truly is the ecchi resurgence and the best show is confirmed

As long as Seven Arcs isn’t doing it, I’m in.

Needs a studio or director change, cause I can't tolerate the censorship inconsistency in the uncensored version. What the f were they thinking? They also needlessly removed reward scenes. People were saying this could be the next Highschool DxD, but the anime dashed all those hopes. This director clearly had no balls to go all out.

Great! I hope they'll increase budget and production value.

@jorel262 Couldn't have said it better myself!!! Indeed great news

Extremely happy that the masterpiece receives a new season . Can't wait!!!!!

Mar 22, 9:58 AM by Yubisoft

@jorel262 Yep, I like this trend of announcing sequels after the end of a season's broadcast. At least we're not left in the dark about whether a sequel will ever come, at least now we know right away, even if it won't be out for a while.

Mar 22, 9:56 AM by IzayoiSk

Great news indeed. Love not having to wait to know about sequels.

@MadanielFL Obviously the manga is popular. But enough to carry a fairly weak anime and help it hold its own against really big shows?

To be honest, I still don’t understand where this title gets so much hype
It's really not that hard to understand, the manga was already popular before the anime came out, simple as that.

Mar 22, 9:38 AM by MadanielFL

Good news ! Let's hope they've heard the censorship complaints and this will be an even better fun ride.
