'Medalist' Unveils Additional Cast, Staff, First Promo for Winter 2025

The official website of the Medalist television anime unveiled additional cast, staff, and the first promo on Friday. The television anime is set to premiere in January 2025 on TV Asahi and its 24 affiliate stations' NUMAnimation programming block.

Kana Ichinose (Sousou no Frieren) and Yuuma Uchida (MF Ghost) are joining the cast as Hikaru Kamisaki and Jun Yodaka, respectively.

Yasutaka Yamamoto (Noblesse) is directing the television anime at ENGI. Jukki Hanada (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is in charge of the series composition and script. Chinatsu Kameyama (Isekai wa Smartphone to Tomo ni. 2) is designing the characters.

Medalist adapts Tsurumaikada's sports drama manga, which began in Afternoon magazine in May 2020. Kodansha shipped the tenth volume on March 22. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in March 2021 and shipped the ninth volume on March 19.

@StyxParadise I doubt the sports showcasing will be limited to just the first episode.

@ryoko6 I don't understand why people call the animation terrible. It looks like a typical mid-budget sports shonen anime.

heard that this manga won awards?! tbh the anime looks (and will most likely be) kinda shit for an award-winning manga, as expected from engi.

Inb4 they use up 80% of their animation budget in the first episode (which I assume is what we see in the PV) and the rest of the season has mediocre/bad animation.
