Studio Colorido Produces 'Suki demo Kirai na Amanojaku' Anime Movie

An original anime movie titled Suki demo Kirai na Amanojaku (My Oni Girl) was announced by production company Twin Engine on Saturday. Produced by Studio Colorido, the movie will both stream worldwide on Netflix and open in Japanese theaters on May 24.

Voice actors Kensho Ono (Yuusha, Yamemasu) and Miyu Tomita (Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo) are starring as Hiiragi Yatsuse and Tsumugi, respectively.

Synopsis
Suki demo Kirai na Amanojaku tells the story of Hiiragi Yatsuse, a first-year high school student who struggles to make friends despite his efforts to please others. His life takes an unexpected turn when one summer day, he meets Tsumugi, an oni (demon) girl on a quest to find her mother in the human world. I'm a stupid Westerner, I don't know what that is. If anyone's curious, it's a sort of yokai that whispers in people's ears to act on their evil desires, or alternatively, it kills people and wears their skin apparently: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amanojaku

That said, the title looks pretty bad. I want to blame Netflix for this, because "My Oni Girl" sounds like something I'd see when I browse their anime or K-drama section.

Another day, another anime with a garbage official english title. My Oni Girl is one hell of a shit lazy-ass title. Why couldn't they incorporate the Amanojaku part into the offical english title? Do they think westerners are too stupid to know what an Amanojaku is and just think Oni is the safest to use because it has already many applications and examples in other anime?

Yes, it's a silly thing to be annoyed at. No-one needs to tell me that. I'm just tired of lazy and half-assed official english titles for anime. It's like they didn't even try for a creative name.
