The official website of the Kinnikuman: Kanpeki Chоujin Shiso-hen television anime revealed two additional cast members, the first promotional video, and a new visual (pictured) on Friday. The anime series is scheduled for a 2024 premiere.

Mamoru Miyano (Free!) is starring as Kinnikuman, while Akira Kamiya (Kinnikuman) is starring as both Mayumi Kinniku and Prince Kamehame.

Akira Satou (Ao Ashi) is helming the anime at Production I.G. Makoto Fukami (Tengoku Daimakyou) is handling the series composition, and Hirotaka Marufuji (Lupin III: Part 6) is designing the characters. Yasuharu Takanashi (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu) is the music composer.

The anime adapts Yudetamago's action comedy manga, which was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1979 to 1987. The manga returned to the ShuuPlay News web magazine in 2011. Shueisha shipped the 83rd volume on September 29.

Good to see Mamoru Miyano in something different than his usually-bishounen roles.

I hope this does well. They have over a decade of the newer Kinnikuman chapters to adapt, and it'd be seriously fantastic if the anime can catch up to where the manga is at now. Even just getting this first story arc fully adapted is wonderful.

From Akira Kamiya returning to voice Mayumi and Kamehame, to the newer style being adapted into animation so faithfully, you can tell this is being worked on by people that really enjoy this series.

Big hype!
