New 'Urusei Yatsura' Season 2 Announces Additional Pair of Cast

The official website of the new Urusei Yatsura television anime revealed two additional cast for the second season on Thursday. The new season is scheduled to premiere in January 2024.

Nagisa Shiowatari: Ayumu Murase (Ragna Crimson)


Father Shiowatari: Kouichi Sakaguchi (Gintama)


Hideya Takahashi (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze) and Yasuhiro Kimura (2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu) returns to helm the anime at David Production. Yuuko Kakihara (Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara) is handling the series composition and Naoyuki Asano (Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!) is designing the characters. Masaru Yokoyama (Horimiya) is composing the music.

Rumiko Takahashi serialized the sci-fi romantic comedy manga in Weekly Shounen Sunday from 1978 to 1987 and compiled into 35 volumes. Shogakukan later reprinted the series in 15 wide-ban volumes in 1989–1990, 18 bunkoban volumes in 1998–1999, and 35 shinsoban volumes in 2006–2008.

hilarious choice for Nagisa but it's good, glad the director had the balls to pick a guy, the end result will be comedy gold

@0451 Technically yes, but unless I'm confusing anything, this guy has already voiced several notable androgynous male characters.

So, is Nagisa's appearance in season 2 finally confirmed? Finally. I’ve probably been waiting for this character to appear since the very first announcement of the anime reboot.

@Daviljoe193 I still hold out hope for their ikemen onna x otokonoko ship, which was greatly downplayed in the first anime. Although if you think about it, years later, Ryonosuke has already managed to practically normalize as a masculine woman. I wonder how people will react to Nagisa's debut and their interaction.
