The official website for the Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun (Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun) anime series announced on Thursday a second season for the Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun television anime and a sequel for the Houkago Shounen Hanako-kun (After-School Hanako-kun) spin-off anime. The spin-off is scheduled to air in 4 episodes in Fall 2024.

The original manga began in GFantasy magazine in December 2014. Square Enix shipped the 20th volume on August 25.

The spin-off manga began serialization on pixiv comic's PFantapy web magazine in February 2018. Square Enix shipped the first volume in August 2019.

Yen Press licensed the main manga in English in 2017 and published the 18th volume on July 18. The 19th volume is planned for a December 12 release. They also licensed the spin-off manga and released the volume in April 2021. Square Enix digitally publishes both manga in English through Manga UP!

Lerche adapted the original manga into a 12-episode television anime in Winter 2020 and the spin-off manga in Fall 2023. Funimation and Crunchyroll simulcast the main series with English subtitles and dub. Crunchyroll also simulcasts the spin-off subbed and dubbed.

@Oongbuh I may have only payed attention to the spinoff getting a sequel part, I was pissed off that a stupid short spinoff got a sequel yet not the main series.

I literally spent months explaining people who thought it meant a remake that by "project restart" they meant restarting production as they had stopped after season 1 finished. Glad to see those can finally shut up.

I knew it!! I am glad it really wasn't a reboot but a new season.

So, by “restart” they meant a revival of the anime project, and not a reboot of it as a whole. Hah, funny.
