'Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon' Receives Second Season
The 12th and final episode of the Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon (My Happy Marriage) television anime revealed a second season on Wednesday.
Produced by Kinema Citrus, the television anime aired in 12 episodes in Summer 2023. Netflix simulcast the anime worldwide. An original anime episode is scheduled to be released in a bundled version of the eighth light novel volume in March 2024.
The television anime adapts Akumi Agitogi's historical drama romance novel, which began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2018. Kadokawa began printing the series with illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka in January 2019. The seventh volume was released on July 14, and the eighth volume is scheduled to be released in March 2024. The series has a cumulative 8 million copies of its volume in circulation.
Rito Kousaka began drawing a manga adaptation on the Gangan Online web magazine in December 2018. Square Enix released the fourth volume last November.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in June 2021, and Square Enix licensed the manga in English under its Manga & Books label the following month. The fourth light novel volume went on sale on June 20. The fourth manga volume was released on September 12.
Synopsis
Misery seems everlasting in Miyo Saimori's life. Born into an arranged marriage, she was quickly discarded after her mother's tragic death. Her father remarried, and her younger half-sister Kaya received all the affection, while Miyo was degraded to a lowly servant. Lacking the strength to fight against her family's abuse, Miyo loses hope that her luck will ever turn.
Unexpectedly, Miyo's father summons her to deliver surprising news: she is to marry Kiyoka Kudou, the head of the distinguished Kudou family. Despite his noble background, Kiyoka is known to be a callous man who has thus far dismissed all of his former fiancées.
Upon arriving at the Kudou household, Miyo expects coarse treatment and to be tossed aside. However, contrary to her assumptions, Kiyoka shows her the kindness and love that she has desperately needed. Marrying Kiyoka may be Miyo's one chance to break free from her neglectful family and embrace a life of happiness. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
