Manga 'Boukyaku Battery' Gets TV Anime

Publisher Kadokawa opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Eco Mikawa's Boukyaku Battery manga on Thursday. The website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured) and the main cast.

Toshiki Masuda (Boku no Hero Academia) and Mamoru Miyano (Bungou Stray Dogs) are starring as Haruka Kiyomine and Kei Kaname, respectively. Miyano previously voiced Kei Kaname in the Jump Festa Special episode in 2020.

Mikawa began serializing the sports manga on the Shounen Jump+ website in April 2018. Shueisha shipped the 15th volume on March 3. The 16th volume is scheduled to release on August 4.

An original net animation episode by MAPPA was produced for 2020's Jump Festa event.

Synopsis
Boukyaku Battery is a story about a famous baseball battery consisting of the genius pitcher Kiyomine Haruka and skilled catcher Kaname Kei who was also known as the "General." During their senior league days, they were talented enough to not only win, but also crush the hopes and dreams of many junior high school players that they played against. However, Kaname lost his memory and the two entered Kotesashi High School, a no-name public high school. In the same school, they meet several talented players who had quitted baseball after playing against them in junior high. This is a story of their coming together in a newly established baseball club, to play baseball again. (Source: MU, edited)

Unfortunately Ao no Hako focuses more on the character dynamics and drama, romance than sports. Also it fell off hard later on but recently have gotten better.

I read about this some time ago. Great news! There is ENOUGH MATERIAL to adapt it into 24-26 episodes. I hope that they will do it! We need sport series so much!
