Light Novel 'Rebuild World' Gets TV Anime

Kadokawa opened an official Twitter account for a television anime adaptation of Nafuse's Rebuild World light novel on Sunday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

Nafuse began penning the action sci-fi novel on both the Shousetsuka ni Narou and Kakuyomu websites in February 2017. Kadokawa acquired the novel and published the first volume under its Dengeki no Shin Bungei imprint in May 2019, featuring illustrations by Gin. The seventh volume was released on January 16, while volume eight part one is scheduled to release on July 14. The series has a cumulative 750,000 copies of its volumes in circulation.

A manga adaptation by Kirihito Ayamura began serializing on Dengeki Maoh in July 2019. The ninth volume went on sale on April 27.

J-Novel Club licensed both the light novel and manga for digital release in English in May and September of 2022, respectively. Volume two part two of the light novel went on sale on June 16, and the third manga volume was released on April 10.

Rebuild World placed fifth and fourth in the 2020 and 2022 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings for books.

Synopsis
The pinnacle of human civilization has come and gone, leaving only ruins in its wake. Society and science now struggle to rebuild, rediscovering scraps of knowledge from powerful ancient artifacts that defy comprehension. These relics of the "Old World" can make the fortunes of those who find them—if ancient security systems and rogue bioweapons don't kill the relic hunters first.

Akira, a young street orphan, sets out to become one such hunter to escape his brutal life in the slums. Untrained, malnourished, and poorly armed, Akira would be lucky to make it back from the ruins alive—until an encounter with Alpha, a mysterious, ghostly woman, changes his fate forever. Alpha needs a hunter, and she's willing to train Akira to get one.
