'Blue Lock' Gets Second Season, 'Episode Nagi' Spin-off Gets Movie Adaptation

The 24th and final episode of the Blue Lock television anime ended with a second season and movie announcement on Sunday. The movie will adapt the Episode Nagi spin-off manga. The official website also revealed six additional cast members.

Ryuusei Shidou: Yuuichi Nakamura (Haikyuu!!)
Tabito Karasu: Makoto Furukawa (One Punch Man)
Eita Otoya: Kengo Kawanishi (Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Kenyuu Yukimiya: Takuya Eguchi (Given)
Julian Loki: Hiro Shimono (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Leonardo Luna: Shinichirou Kamio (Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. 2nd Season)

The first season produced by animation studio 8bit began airing on October 9. Crunchyroll simulcast the series with subtitles and an English dub.

Blue Lock adapts Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura's soccer manga, which began in Weekly Shounen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the 23rd volume on March 16. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in January 2021 and released the 18th volume on March 21.

Kaneshiro and Kouta Sannomiya began serializing the spin-off manga focused on Seishirou Nagi in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine on June 9. Kodansha shipped the second volume on March 16.

Blue Lock won the 45th Kodansha Manga Awards in the Shounen division in May 2021. The manga also topped the Sports category in the 15th edition of Recommended Comics Selected by Japanese Bookstore Employees.

Oh, wow, I have never seen any of this manga or anime, even though I have heard of it and have heard people talk about it. I need to watch it at some point.

Anime only's won't be ready for the U-20 arc lol....Shidou, Sae, Rin, Aiku and then great moments from HIMsagi, Nagi, Barou, Reo and Bachira.....Whew, I can't wait (But hopefully the budget increases tho)

Glad to see that they're making the Nagi spinoff into a movie too

This comes as no surprise because during the FIFA 2022 World Cup, you saw Blue Lock everywhere in Japan.
And while I'm not a fan of sports myself, I'm actually looking forward to a season 2 and the movie.

Sequels, movie.. anything as long as manga sells well. Not surprised in the slightest as this was always coming.

Though wonder if they'll continue with the two cour thing.
