Manga 'Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi' Gets TV Anime [Update 3/25]

Production company Aniplex opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Yuusei Matsui's Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi (The Elusive Samurai) manga on Monday. The website also revealed the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser promotional video.

Character Design: Yasufumi Nishitani (Ni no Kuni, Pokemon Movie 21: Minna no Monogatari sub-character design)
Studio: CloverWorks

Matsui began serializing the adventure comedy manga in Weekly Shounen Jump in January 2021. Shueisha shipped the ninth volume on January 4, with the tenth volume scheduled to release on April 4. As of June 2022, the manga has a cumulative of over 1 million copies in circulation.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in October 2021 and simulpublishes the manga in English. The fifth volume released on March 7, while the sixth volume is scheduled to go on sale on May 2. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also simulpublishes the manga in English.

Synopsis
Eight-year-old Tokiyuki Houjou, the next successor of the Kamakura shogunate, is a young boy lacking talent in everything besides hide-and-seek. One day, his carefree life is abruptly turned upside down when Takauji Ashikaga brutally seizes power from the Kamakuras, ending their reign. Rescued by a self-proclaimed prophetic priest, Tokiyuki manages to escape with his life. Now he must evade those trying to kill him while recruiting comrades who can help him restore the Kamakura Shogunate to its former glory.

Set during the Nanboku-chou period of Japanese history, Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi is a tale of redemption, documenting the life of the forgotten hero that altered Japan's destiny by running away. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

he has 2 female retainer show romantically interested in him as part of main character group, but this MC is youngest MC in current jump so i don't think we would get much of romance. soo...

I had no idea that this was AssClass's mangaka's new work....Defintely watching this now since imo AssClass was easily the most underrated great shounen of the last decade

Hell ya. I am hyped I am almost current on the manga right now. It's a little weird at times but I think it is severely under rated.

I'm a sucker for anime that has historical set pieces especially ones that revolve around Japanese history.

Assassination Classroom is one of my favorite animes, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of his work.

Nice. I'm currently reading this. It reached the 100th chapter recently too. And it's by the creator of Assassination Classroom and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. It's always great when a Weekly Shounen Jump manga gets an anime. There's also Mashle and Undead Unluck anime to look forward to this year as well.

Also, lol at people thinking that's a girl. He is indeed a boy.
