Nakamura and Nozawa began serializing the romantic comedy manga in Young Jump magazine in December 2019. Shueisha shipped the 12th volume on December 19, with the 13th volume scheduled to release on Friday.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English under the Ghost Ship imprint in July 2021. The fifth volume went on sale on February 21, with the sixth volume scheduled to ship on May 9.

Synopsis
Upon graduating middle school, Rentarou Aijou manages to confess to the girl he loves. Unfortunately, he gets rejected, making it his 100th rejection in a row. Having experienced heartbreak after heartbreak, he goes to a matchmaking shrine and prays with the hope of finally getting a girlfriend in high school. Suddenly, the god of the shrine appears, promising Rentarou that he will meet one hundred soulmates in high school.

Although skeptical at first, Rentarou quickly acknowledges the truth behind the god's words when two of his soulmates—Hakari Hanazono and Karane Inda—confess to him the very same day that they meet him. However, there was one detail that the god forgot to tell Rentarou: if any of his soulmates fails to get into a relationship with him, they will die. Now trapped in a matter of life and death, Rentarou decides to date all of his soulmates.

With a heart so big that it can be shared among one hundred girlfriends, Rentarou makes the most out of his unanticipated high school life, with the Rentarou family growing ever larger! [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I have a high expectation for this adapted anime.

This manga is so freaking fantastic, is the best. 3 year has pass from It's first publication manga...

Top recommended from me to you who loves school romcom genre.

A pretty dumb yet hilarious take on the harem genre, where no girl gets left out. As long as people don't take it too seriously, i think it will be able to provide a good chuckle to anyone.

when was the last time shoujo and josei has popular romcom? anime or even manga? it was all full of drama and smut. and it's not like it was new phenomenon. it's always has been. romcom always has been more popular in shounen/seinen demographic.

I love the fact that you brought it up because even MAL doesn't give fruits basket a comedy tag, the com in romcom stands for comedy in case you somehow didn't know. Also go into this series expecting to focus more on comedy and characters rather than romance and "plot". The 1st season is barely gonna scratch this series' surface, only reaching the first insane plot twist, and barely developing the characters, so go into this with an open mind and maybe give the manga a read, it has fantastic art and really funny moments

Yea Fruits Basket is a fantastic show, but it's like 60% drama, 30% romance, and 10% comedy. That's not a romcom.
Comedy is always the tag that's slapped on shows if they even have an average of one comedic moment per episode. Most shows and movies have comedic moments, but that doesn't make them comedies.
For something to be a romcom, romance and comedy should be by far the most prevalent components of the show and at least somewhat balanced.
Fruits Basket isn't a romcom because it has some humor much the same way Spy x Family isn't a romcom just because it has some romantic tension.

the fact that you have to bring a 30 years old franchise, from series that's not even romcom, more like romance with some comedy on it, just further proof my point.

Recent shoujo romcom Fruits Basket and this spring we have Yamada-kun to Lv999 no koi o suru,
Popular shoujo mangas that deserve anime   yubisaki to renren,  Honey Lemon Soda ,  Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki,  Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi,  Boku To Kimi No Taisetsu Na Hanashi,  Namaikizakari ,  hayaku shitai futari,  Hikaeme ni Ittemo, Kore wa Ai, Last game,  Ohayou, Ibarahime ......
none of those are romcom, more like romance with a lighter tone. not a true GAG series like this one.

i think the last time we got a successful shoujo/josei romcom as in actually comedic series is wotakoi. or bakarina if that's even count since it's comedy also disappear in second installation of series. otherwise most of them already shift to shounen/seinen demographic even if they still retain their shoujo-like ness. see nozaki-kun or polar opposite or shishihara-kun. all of them was shoujo mangaka who move to seinen/shounen magazine to draw romcom series. 100 girlfriend was actually same case, the author and the artist used to draw some shoujo one shot, but found more success writing romcom in Seinen magazine.

this is the only harem i recently enjoyed even though the comedy itself gets stale but that doesn't take away my overall enjoyment.

A lot of of the best shoujo romance shows are romance/drama, though... Fruits basket, Kimi no Todoke, Nana (supposedly, haven't seen it), etc.
Also, the original quote you responded to is weird considering that in the past couple years we got 3 seasons of Love is War, the best anime romcom ever (imo. at least one of the all time greats, though). Also a few other pretty good romcoms.
Not to mention that this manga is a parody. Like someone said earlier, it's pretty much the OPM of harem romcoms. A parody that does the tropes better than 99% of other manga in its genre all while taking the piss out of said genre and featuring an MC that is capable of inhuman feats that seem completely normal to him.

(the quote button doesn't work for some reason so I had to manually quote)

love is war was boring, these past couple years we've gotten nothing but harem and fucking eccho animes. also idc if this is a parody, it's a romance anime so I'm gonna judge it like one

Finally. The most BASED harem rom-com manga is getting adapted. If you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

Mar 15, 2023 3:07 AM by i-like-this

This one is actually interesting. I've read chapter 1 quite a while ago and it's very interesting. Might continue reading it.

But ughh, Bibury? I'm worried.

A lot of people clearly aren't familiar with the manga if they think it a a standard harem anime. This is like a harem with GinTama vibes.

That's the same thought that I had as well.
Protagonist also looks completely unremarkable.

It's part of the joke that Ren looks ordinary (besides thicc eyebrows) yet is psychically strong, smart, sociable and has good reputation from the start. And they you learn he is a perfect boyfriend/mad monster of love and does ridiculous feats like some sort of harem One-Punch man.

Sounds a bit too good to be true, but if that's true I might consider watching it. It's been a while since the harem genre has surprised me though.
