Manga 'Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san' Concludes with 20th Volume
Maki originally posted the romantic comedy on Twitter in September 2018 before serializing it on Kodansha's Magazine pocket website and app the following February. The 17th and 18th volumes were shipped on February 9. The manga has a cumulative 4.3 million copies in circulation.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in March 2020 and released the 11th volume in December 2022.
A 12-episode television anime adaptation by Doga Kobo aired in Spring 2022. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime worldwide, excluding Asia.
Synopsis
Yuu Izumi is a high school student whose life is filled with misfortune. Ever since he was young, he would always return home with injuries. Due to his unlucky disposition, his days are full of nothing but unfortunate events—that is, until he started dating Micchon Shikimori.
One can describe Shikimori as the perfect girlfriend: cute, adorable, and unbelievably in love with Izumi. However, she is occasionally not so charming; instead, she becomes the coolest girlfriend in the scariest way possible! Her demanding presence and earnest concern for Izumi's wellbeing never ceases to take his breath away. With the cute yet cool Shikimori now by Izumi's side, his luckless days are over, bringing a life full of happiness and warmth. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm surprised it lasted that long. I dropped it after 19 chapters long time ago and still feel repugnance. As far as I remember, both main characters were really off putting, just in different ways. Wonder if it got axed like Kubo.

kubo didn't get axed please don't spread misinformation kubo simply doesn't have any subplots to keep it going after the main characters get together.
I'm just putting it out there for other people

And why was it still ongoing anyways, as story didn't feel like something that could've lasted over 50 chapters.

Going through the last 2 years of high school with tests, school events, and a fun friend group and a cute main couple people just enjoyed the ride for a feel good series especially since life has been in the crapper for just about everyone the last 5 years

Very small amounts that don't last long I recommend reading the manga over the anime because the anime kind of skipped a lot of the set-up of the pairs dynamic
