TROYCA, Kadokawa Announce 'Overtake!' Original TV Anime

Publisher Kadokawa and animation studio TROYCA announced on Friday an original television anime titled Overtake! and revealed the main cast, staff, teaser visual, and a teaser promotional video.

Anan Furuya (Mahoutsukai Reimeiki) and Katsuyuki Konishi (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze) are starring as Haruka Asahina and Kouya Madoka, respectively.

Synopsis
Freelance photographer Kouya Madoka is in the midst of a slump due to a certain reason. While working on a story at the Fuji International Speedway, he meets the high school F4 racer Haruka Asahina and he suddenly finds his heart racing once again. He decides to support Asahina and help him make his dream come true with the small team, Komaki Motors. With this, the lives of Madoka and Asahina, who have completely different personalities and ages, intersect with each other.

I do feel the timing of this announcement might be hinting Kadolkawa/TROYCA want to compete with Kodansha/Avex Pictures/Felix Films' MF Ghost (I know its a different kind of of racing, but still).

This is clearly not going to be the new Inithial D, but TROYCA has never disappointed me before in making original shows that you can watch at least once and not get any major negativity or boredom.

I was hooked from the trailer but it got quite bland thereafter (though I haven't dropped 100% yet since I've paused on a climax episode).

For me, the main problem with the show was that it looked like a generic adaptation of LN from the 00s. Otherwise, it was an amateur as for me.

With ReCreators, it's usually the screenwriter who is "guilty". I even remember people on Japanese twitter complaining that he was blacklisting them because of complaints about writing the ending.

Id: Invaded was great. Way better than some Troyca originsals not made by Aoiki. I don't get people hating it.

gonna lower some expectations then if the writers are weak this time and Aoiki original anime usually are not that sakuga fest too but still have strong productions

Yooooooo!!, it's been 3 years since Ei Aoki's last original.

But to be completely honest, both the writers involved are kind of awful especially compared to someone like Maijo Outarou. Let's see if this can even come close to Id Invaded's ambitious writing.
