'Ooyukiumi no Kaina' Gets Sequel Movie

The official website of the Ooyukiumi no Kaina (Kaina of the Great Snow Sea) television anime announced a sequel movie on Saturday.

The original television anime by Tsutomu Nihei (Sidonia no Kishi, Blame!) and Polygon Pictures is set to air on January 12. A manga adaptation drawn by Itoe Takemoto (Kemono no Souja) began serializing in Shounen Sirius in February 2022. The manga will be available on Crunchyroll outside of Asia.

Synopsis
A world blanketed in an endless and ever-growing ocean of snow. The people eke out a living, either huddled around the roots of enormous trees dotting the surface, or high in the canopy, which spreads over the planet's atmosphere.

A chance meeting between Kaina, a youth from the canopy, and Liliha, a young woman from the surface, sets off a chain of events that will change the fate of the world. (Source: Polygon Pictures)

So this pretty much explains why the show was a bit truncated and lacked a 12th episode. I do wonder when we can expect it to air?

More like low budget/priority production.

Just because something is CGI doesn't mean it is low budget/priority production. And honestly I think this CGI looks good. So I am glad they are already announcing more.
