TV Anime 'Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken' Gets Third Season

The live viewing event for the Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) television anime's upcoming movie announced a third anime season on Wednesday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

Animation studio 8bit produced the first anime season, which aired in 24 episodes in Fall 2018. A second anime season was later animated in two 12-episode parts. The second season's first part aired in Winter 2021, while the second part aired in Summer 2021. 8bit also produced the spin-off anime titled Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken (The Slime Diaries) in Spring 2021. An anime movie is scheduled to open in Japan on November 25

The anime is based on Taiki Kawakami's manga adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah's fantasy light novel. The manga began publishing on Kodansha's Shounen Sirius in March 2015. Kodansha shipped the 20th and 21st volumes on March 9 and July 7, respectively.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in October 2016. The 20th volume was released on October 4.

Fuse began writing the fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from February 2013 to October 2016. Micro Magazine acquired the novel and began publishing it under their GC Novels imprint in May 2014, featuring illustrations by Mitz Vah. The 20th volume was shipped on September 30.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in April 2017. The 14th volume went on sale on July 26, while the 15th volume is scheduled for a November 22 release.

Synopsis
It is just another ordinary day for Satoru Mikami. The sun is shining brightly on the streets of Tokyo, and he is in the midst of a discussion with his colleagues when suddenly he gets stabbed by a passing robber. The average 37-year-old corporate worker is now at death's door, and he has only one regret—dying a virgin. Fading out, he is startled by a mysterious AI-like voice reciting commands.

Satoru abruptly wakes up in the middle of a strange cave, but something odd has happened: he is now a goop of slime! Thanks to his new body, he has acquired the skill to absorb anything and obtain its appearance and abilities. While testing out his newfound powers and exploring the cave, he stumbles upon a massive dragon named Veldora, who has been sealed away for the past three hundred years. After quickly befriending the beast, Satoru decides to help him escape; in exchange, Satoru is bestowed a new name: "Rimuru Tempest."
