Idol Unit i☆Ris Announces Anime Movie for 2024

Voice actress idol unit i☆Ris announced an anime movie for the group at their 10th Anniversary Live performance on Monday. The movie titled i☆Ris the Movie -Full Energy!!- is set to premiere in Japan in 2024.

i☆Ris, originally consisting of Saki Yamakita, Yuu Serizawa, Himika Akaneya, Yuuki Wakai, Miyu Kubota, and Azuki Shibuya, is a voice-acting and singing idol group. It was formed in 2012 by entertainment company Avex as a result of the Anisong Vocal Audition. Shibuya graduated from the group in March 2021.

The group is best known for voicing the main characters in the idol anime PriPara. They have also performed theme songs for Mahou Shoujo Site (Magical Girl Site), Tejina-senpai (Magical Sempai), and Kenja no Mago (Wise Man's Grandchild).

Unlike idol anime based on mixed-media projects, anime based on real-life idol groups has varied outcomes. For example, there was AKB0048 (AKB48) which was a full-on mecha sci-fi anime, and there was Natsu-iro Kiseki (with the group sphere) which was an SoL/dorama show.

Recently, the cover group Healer Girls also got their own anime, and that was a fantasy musical.

i☆Ris have performed lots of songs for PriPara and PriChan (as themselves and in character) so I'm sure there will be lots of songs in the movie itself.

As a big fan of i☆Ris I'm pretty excited for this. I just hope they don't try to awkwardly deal with Shibuya and her graduation, hopefully they just ignore it.

The last anime of this type that I remember came out in the late 00s and was basically just CGDCT with an original plot. Not even musical.
