Publisher Shueisha announced a new anime project for Joh Araki and Kenji Nagatomo's Bartender manga on Friday. Nagatomo shared an illustration to commemorate the announcement (pictured above).

Araki and Nagatomo originally serialized the slice of life gourmet manga in Super Jump magazine from December 2004 to September 2011. The manga then switched to Grand Jump in November 2011 and ended the following month. Shueisha released the 21st and final volume in February 2012.

A spin-off manga by Osamu Kajisa ran in the same magazine from January 2012 to October 2013. The sixth and final volume was released in December 2013.

Palm Studio produced an 11-episode television anime adaptation in Fall 2006. Shout! Factory and Anime Limited licensed the anime in September 2020 and released a Blu-Ray set in United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and the United States in January 2021. Bartender received a live-action television series that aired in January 2011.

Synopsis
Hidden in the backstreets of the Ginza district is Eden Hall, a lone bar operated by Ryuu Sasakura, the prodigy bartender who is said to mix the most incredible cocktails anyone has ever tasted. However, not just anyone can find Eden Hall; rather, it is Eden Hall that must find you. Customers of varying backgrounds, each plagued with their own troubles, wander into this bar. Nevertheless, Ryuu always knows the ideal cocktail to console and guide each distraught soul. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

No, thanks. It's a skip for me. The first one was enough.

Restaurant From Another World but for mixed drinks and no fantasy aspects....I'm down

People seem to compare it mostly to Death Parade. If t's true and this is not a sequel I'm totally hyped.
Yeah, I'm hyped now too, being compared to Death Parade is even greater thing lol

Sorry but Ryuu looks uglier here than his old design.. his old design looked charming and quite charismatic to me, while here he looks a bit more...cute? His hair looks pretty eccentric too. But that doesn't really matter as long as the atmosphere is still the same when it airs.

I think the same as you. In the previous series animation looks better than in the original manga.

Woah...now I really need to get back to reading it.

Excited to see this author doing more, Bartender was such a comfort anime and got me into reading his other works. Though Ryuu's redesign has me worried for how the show will treat the source material, he does not need a Lisa Simpson haircut.

Great news since the manga is GOATED, but not feeling the art as other posters have said above. But yeah it is what it is.

I'm fond of the original Bartender, but that illustration looks a little... off.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I loved the original anime when I watched it a few months ago! Glad it’s getting another anime!

What a nice surprise!

Yeah.. This feels off..

So i'm just going to assume bar attendance and alcohol consumption in Japan hasn't recovered to pre-pandemic levels.. Being the reason why we're getting this..

The 2006 anime had such a unique charme, I wonder how the new adaptation will measure up.

The illustration looks indeed not good when you take into account that we came from this

Certainly an unexpected project. Ryuu looks kind of uncanny in the promo visual, a very eccentric new look...

Happy to see more Bartender, although, the graphics here are a bit strange. Regardless, looking forward to it!

There's a signature here urging people to watch Bartender, that person's in the luck right now.
