The official website of the Haikyuu!! (Haikyu!!) anime series announced a two-part sequel movie on Saturday, titled Haikyuu!! Final (Haikyu!! Final). The website also revealed an announcement promo and a teaser visual (pictured).

Haruichi Furudate originally published two one-shots in Shounen Jump NEXT and Weekly Shounen Jump in January and April 2011. The latter began serializing the volleyball manga in February 2012 and ended its eight-year-run in July 2020. Shueisha published the 45th and final volume in November that year. Haikyuu!! has a cumulative 50 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Production I.G produced the first three seasons in Spring 2014, Fall 2015, and Fall 2016. The fourth season, Haikyuu!!: To the Top, aired in split cours in Winter and Fall 2020. The manga also inspired four compilation films between July 2015 and September 2017.

Crunchyroll simulcast the seasons with subtitles as they aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released the first three seasons on home video in June 2015, April 2018, and November 2019, and later with an English dub. The fourth season shipped on March 29.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English under its Shounen Jump imprint in 2016. The company simulpublished the chapters with the Japanese release on its Shounen Jump platform. The 45th and final volume shipped last August.

Haikyuu!! won the 61st Shogakukan Manga Awards in the Shounen category in 2015.

Glad to have movie level quality for the upcoming matches, they are really some of the best in the series. That being said, theres still a third of the series left. You need 2 seasons, let alone 2 movies. Im sure the movies will do great considering how well anime movies have been doing recently, but I cant help but feel they are doing this for the money rather than to faithfully adapt the series. Hopefully they make tasteful cuts at least

I've never read the manga, but I was really hoping for a tv series at least :P

Man. I'm sure these will look good, but the story is going to be condensed as heck.

Better something than nothing but would definitely prefer anime season over a movie

Guess I'm gonna go read the manga then

Yes go read the manga!!

Everyone is being so pissy but really the manga is pretty good, sometimes I forget its not animated. The pages really animate themselves, imo.

I'm so happy either way because it's still a good re-read! YEEEEEEE ヾ(≧▽≦*)o
yeah I started it from chapter one the other day I love it

Nooooooo they should have done another season. Now it’s gonna be kinda rushed for the ending, whatever at least more haikyuu content/ guess demon slayer movie really did change everything

Aug 14, 2022 8:30 AM by ChrisBlitz

I don’t really want it to be rushed ngl.

This is something a certain Youtuber warned us about a while ago. After the Studios saw how well the Demon Slayer movie performed because it was a canon story, they saw a money making opportunity to make more anime movies now that are canon to the anime series they are based on.

That Youtuber is wrong because Kimetsu adapted only a single arc. And Kimetsu is also a cultural phenomenon so pointless to compare. This one is adapting all of the remaining manga which is just impossible, it's more likely the committee attempting to cash on HQ without having to spend the next 10 years animating the rest of the series.

Since last Season was poorly received and didn't sell that much, and the manga is over and it's not being milked.

After Attack on Titan I don't believe in a world "final" anymore being "final"

Final season part 1, 2, 3..

And wasn't even Free movies everyone having word "Final" in them but there has been like 5 movies with title Final? Lmao (Free! Movie 5: The Final Stroke)

Maybe for Japanese industries the word "final" means they are about to conclude a story, but how many Final works they give out isn't defined until they finish it..

The news says it will get 2 movies, but it doesn't say for sure there won't be more (knowing how titles in Final are misused in anime)..? Or i am i just wishfully thinking this?

That's just wishful thinking :(
MAPPA got the contract to animate the (one) final season Attack on Titan. They just had to split up this season since they had to start it in 2020.
It's not important when these parts air (and MAL shouldn't seperate the entries).

The time between these parts is longer since MAPPA had no time to work ahead but the idea is similar to The Walking Dead having 2 (or 3) parts per season.

I don't see a reason to hope Haikyuu will get more than these two movies so I'll read the manga instead and watch these movies as recap/highlight movies at some point.

I'm so sad and disappointed with this news...
