Multimedia Project 'Paradox Live' Gets TV Anime in 2023

The 2nd Paradox Live Dope Show at the Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall announced a television anime adaptation for the multimedia project on Saturday. The anime project, Paradox Live the Animation, is scheduled for a 2023 debut.

Production company Avex Pictures and smartphone game developer GCREST launched the hip-hop multimedia project in November 2019. The project has since released eight singles and two albums. The first Paradox Live Dope Show live performance took place at Line Cube Shibuya last March.

Introduction
The Phantom Live movement was reborn in the near future as a result of the incredible saturation of hip-hop culture. Rappers wear accessories made of Phantom Metal, a metallic substance. They create illusions linked to their emotions through chemical reactions with their own DNA, driving young people insane with spectacular stage shows.

At the Paradox Live event, held at the legendary Club Paradox, four teams competed for supremacy: BAE, The Cat's Whiskers, cozmez, and Akanyatsura. Although cozmez won, the intensity of the battle won the hearts of legendary rappers Buraikan, sparking the start of a new event.

Buraikan then traveled throughout Japan to spread the word about the new event: "This event will determine who will become the next legendary artist. There is only one requirement for participation: you must be a Phantom Rapper. Your position and title are irrelevant. Let's go, everyone."

Beginning with this message, many intensely skilled contestants approached Buraikan, inspired by this message. Eight teams were chosen from among the best candidates. The fight is heating up, and the momentum will undoubtedly propel Phantom Live to new heights. Who will be the next iconic artist?

I'm so happy that this is going to get an anime. I have been following them since the beginning but I'm not really updated with the drama CDs so I'm not clearly aware of each characters' trauma, this anime will help me get a proper understanding of the story.

Basically yeah, they're not pop idols, even if some groups incorporate pop idol elements into their rap (along with other genres of music as the user above said). On a surface level it's similar to Hypnosis Mic, a bunch of rap groups battle each other with an overarching plot connecting them.

I'm so excited! I've been waiting for an anime announcement since the beginning of the project XD

I understand seeing that the majority of the cast is male would make anyone think the target audience is for females, however, in this interview, they said that they wanted to target the general audience. At least music wise, I've shared the songs with a few male friends and they really liked many of the songs.

For anyone interested, definitely try listening to the songs before deciding whether this is for you or not. Here's the first full album on Spotify. I really like how each group has their own sound, ranging from from pop (BAE), trap (cozmez), lo-fi jazz (The Cat's Whiskers), and fusion (AKYR; I saw someone say afrobeat and another say reggaeton, I'm not familiar with either genre...). As a fan of K hip-hop and rap, I think most of rapping is quite well done in Paralive. Some of it is also a bit gimmicky (Hanae's character for example), but in the end, it's all about individual preference :)

Definitely looking forward to the anime, I hope the writing won't be a mess and that quality will be good! Not asking for anything amazing, but regardless, I think I'll enjoy it ^^ was about to use the word fun but that definitely doesn't fit Paralive

I figured it would get one sooner or later. :) Pretty excited to see everything animated. BAE is my favorite music wise especially.

OH MY GOD!!! YESSS!!! I was just saying to myself how much I wanted an anime adaption of this just a week ago, and my wish came true. This news could not come at a better time for me. I’m praying for a good studio to animate this.
