'Uma Musume: Pretty Derby' Gets New Net Anime
The Uma Musume: Pretty Derby 4th Special Dreamers!! event announced a new net anime for the franchise on Wednesday. The anime will stream online and focus on T.M. Opera O, Admire Vega, Narita Top Road, and other Uma Musume aiming to win the Classic competitions.
Cygames released the Uma Musume: Pretty Derby smartphone game on iOS and Android platforms in February 2021 and for PC the following month. The franchise follows anthropomorphized racing horses as girls with exceptional running capacity, who aim to win at the "Twinkle Series" sports event.
P.A. Works produced the 13-episode first season in Spring 2018. The fourth and final Blu-ray volume bundled three special episodes in December that year. The second season by Studio Kai aired in 13 episodes in Winter 2021. Crunchyroll streamed both seasons with subtitles. A short anime adaptation of Kumajet's Umayon 4-koma spin-off manga aired in Summer 2020.

With all due respect I'm not want for an anime to be 100% healthy, but with uma musume is exaggerated, the second season the poor protagonist was injured in each episode, also other characters that bad things happened to them for no good reason like rice shower, I really hate the petty, cruel and unfair tone that the story had about the characters It's like I'm punishing them for no reason.
Well, the franchise has been making it clear since season one that it cares about the real background of its horses, including their historical trauma or issues. They even had to tone down some shit like keeping some characters alive or turning them into spiritual siblings instead of relatives to avoid the wrong implications from fan content creators.[/quote
That seems silly to me, what need do they have to stick to real facts? there is no logical consequence of real events, besides seeing a girl suffer the same as an animal is cruel and stupid
Because the whole point of the franchise is the moe anthropomorphism of the original Japanese racetrack culture. The franchise is so popular in Japan as most of the fans are also fans of the original Special Week and others. If you're looking for something purely wholesome, then you might want to check out other moe franchises.

I never understood the popularity of this franchise. It's not because I think it's bad or anything, it's just because I don't hear much about it outside of anime announcements or episode discussions for that kind of support.
Just because you personally don't like it doesn't mean it's a "stupid trend". Not to mention, anime doesn't have to always be wholesome to satisfy fans of just one genre.

I hope the story this time does not have the same tone because being the best-selling anime in recent years it's a shame that the content end up becoming popular and create a stupid trend in several anime seriously, i would hate it to become the new "isekai" overexploiting girl show stories with such dramatic and tragic content.
