Netflix Japan announced on Thursday that a second season for Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre (Baki Hanma) is in production. The new season will stream worldwide exclusively on Netflix.

Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre adapts Keisuke Itagaki's sequel manga, which he launched in December 2005, following the ending of Baki: New Grappler Baki the month prior. The manga concluded in Shounen Champion in August 2012. Itagaki then ran Baki-dou in the same magazine from March 2014 to April 2018, and began its second part in October that year.

TMS Entertainment adapted Baki: New Grappler Baki into a 26-episode anime series that streamed on Netflix from June to December in 2018. The Baki: Dai Raitaisai-hen (Baki: The Great Raitai Tournament) sequel debuted on the same platform in June 2020. Hanma Baki: Son of Ogre, the latest installment, streamed on Netflix in 12 episodes last September.

Baki has been a huge influence on a number of my favorite series, plus I've heard that it's one of the most iconic action shonen manga so I'd like to get a full look at it. Do you speak CGI? Did they make it completely 3D?

They experimented in S2 with CGI, From S3 they lowered the use of it a lot, so its not that bad after all.
If you want the full experience, the manga is the way to go as always. The original source. The author's art is really unique and brings on a lot of the crazy-ness of the Baki world to full light and glory. The animation just can't replicate it.

Well actually the full CGI solution was the reason I still haven't watched Kengan even though I deeply love and respect the author.

The manga is still too old for me, although I read a lot of not so modern authors who were inspired by it.

No, except for the bad animation from time to time, since its Netflix and all, and they use CGI.

In the end I'd recommend you to read the manga, starting from 1st series all the way to 5th. However if you have the time and want to put in into the anime, then yeah go ahead and watch all the way from first old 2000 adaptation.

And it doesn't make any significant changes to the animation style or storytelling?

You mean the old 2000's adaptation? It adapts the 1st manga series. Netflix skipped 1st manga series since that adaptation is still fairy faithful, and continued with 2nd manga series.

About the news, glad to see it continue. Baki deserves it.
