You need to watch Kamen Rider W before watching this. Unfortunately only the first two episodes are up on YouTube legally, so you have to find a way to pirate the rest of the series plus the movies for context on Eternal (who appears later in the manga).

I didn’t read the manga, did Katsumi Daido and his group NEVER appear in the manga?

They appear in a flashbacks

BTW, in the MOH game, Daido/Eternal is voiced by Yūichi Nakamura. So, if the anime reached the point where he appeared in a flashback, we'll have Gojo Satoru voicing Daido lol.

On December 16, 2021, Mitsuru Matsuoka announced that he was recording his lines for Eternal.

You mean this one?

Well, in that that one he only said he's recording "arrangements and vocals" not recording lines for this series. I could be wrong, but there's still nothing official about him being in the series. I think even if he participates in the series, it will probably be with him singing some songs, not as a seiyuu, considering how busy he is.

I had a feeling the original actors wouldn't reprise their roles for their anime counterparts the moment they didn't announce such. Still Hosoya and Uchiyama good picks.

Hosoya, Uchiyama, Furukawa and Komatsu previously voiced the same characters in the video game, Kamen Rider: Memory of Heroez (MOH). They all did a good job in that game, managing to captured the character's personality, IMO. Even Komatsu, who only played a very small cameo in the game, did a good job. LOL, now that I think about it, MOH was probably a trial run of sort for the anime.

No, they're all independent stories besides the fanservice crossover movies. But this is a sequel to W so you should watch that one first.

So what is with this Showa timeline continuity or something?

Showa/heisei/reiwa just refers to what era each show was made in. They don't have a continuity for the most part

wish they casted someone other than Hosoya for Shoutarou

Uchiyama and Mikako are okay...

Hosoya, Uchiyama and Furukawa all did a good job voicing the characters in Memory of Heroez

Sucks we couldn't get the original actors to reprise their roles for the anime to give a nostalgic feel. But other than that I'm hyped for it.
