'Rurouni Kenshin' Manga Gets New TV Anime Adaptation
The Jump Studio Red stage for Nobuhiro Watsuki's Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan (Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story) manga announced a new television anime on Sunday.
The new anime series is being produced by animation studio LIDENFILMS (Tokyo Revengers, Mugen no Juunin: Immortal). Aniplex simultaneously opened an official website, revealing a teaser promotional video.
The original historical samurai manga ran in Weekly Shounen Jump between 1994 and 1999. Watsuki and his wife Kaoru Kurosaki began the Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Hokkaido-hen (Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc) sequel manga in Jump SQ. in November 2016. Shueisha published the sixth volume on July 2.
Studio Deen and Gallop adapted the original manga into a 94-episode television anime that aired from 1996 to 1998. Aniplex released a four-episode original video anime (OVA) the following year that served as a prequel to the television series, followed by a two-episode sequel OVA in 2002.
Synopsis
Ten years have passed since the end of Bakumatsu, an era of war that saw the uprising of citizens against the Tokugawa shogunate. The revolutionaries wanted to create a time of peace, and a thriving country free from oppression. The new age of Meiji has come, but peace has not yet been achieved. Swords are banned but people are still murdered in the streets. Orphans of war veterans are left with nowhere to go, while the government seems content to just line their pockets with money.
One wandering samurai, Kenshin Himura, still works to make sure the values he fought for are worth the lives spent to bring about the new era. Once known as Hitokiri Battousai, he was feared as the most ruthless killer of all the revolutionaries. Now haunted by guilt, Kenshin has sworn never to kill again in atonement for the lives he took, and he may never know peace until killing is a thing of the past.
Now in the 11th year of Meiji, Kenshin stumbles upon Kaoru Kamiya, owner and head instructor of a small dojo being threatened to close its doors. The police force is powerless to stop the string of murders done in the name of her dojo by a man claiming to be the famous Battousai. Kenshin's wanderings pause for now as he joins Kaoru to clear both their names. But how long can he stay before his past catches up to him? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I and many others believe that every person has a right to redeem themselves after they got punished for their mistakes, but more than that we understand that it has nothing to do with this great manga, which many other innocent people have also worked on, so it's okay to look forward to this upcoming anime and support it.
Anyone who disagrees is entitled to their own opinion, just make sure you don't act like a self-righteous hero about it, if you don't like that this anime is getting made just leave with dignity, don't force your values on others.
I agree with this sentiment the most. Despite Watsuki supervising and still earning money from this adaptation. There are tons of other people like animators and voice actors working hard on this project. Just because one problematic guy is on the team shouldn’t mean you discount all the others. Rurouni Kenshin means so much more than the author and is a landmark in Shonen manga and anime inspiring many others that followed it.

Well, because it wasn't really CP, these were nude videos where there is no sex, like the case of Galko-chan recently, they were old magazine '80 from Germany, also no sex involved, just photobooks, sorta of gravure idols albums. Yes, in some countries such content is grey area even if they are very old, not an excuse of course but just point out the correct information, rest is up to you.
That is still child porn and distributing it is a form of child abuse, because it violates and commerces with the privacy of children. If sexual acts were performed that would be rape. So yeah, to be precise.
Anyway, to each their own in the ethical concerns of this case.
No idea but seems not all countries consider beach nudes real CP in the strict sense of the terminology, appaently in Germany back then wasn't since the magazine was available till year 2000 (at least according to wikipedia). Do not know much about the rest of the books, no much data or details, probably the same content or maybe not, we have to wait and read the final sentence of the court.

The Reflection OVA was largely anime original. If it ends up following & covering the complete manga, then I would advise forgetting about that OVA completely.

Yes, he can try to make money any way he wants, but the fact that people are still actively trying to work with him even after this became public is very alarming, to say the least.

It's the year 2021 so we can expect 13 measly episodes and lifeless animation.

it's hard bewildering that japan is such a crazy place when it comes to this kind of stuff that you have to ask whether the convincted was caught with a ''soft'' or a ''hard'' type of CP.
some soft CP are even still legal in japan like junior idol stuff i won't mention. piracy goes brrrrrrrr

The author got fined with 2,000 dollars for having more real child porn than he could consume in years, meaning as well that he is an indirect funder of child abuse. That sucks for the legal system of Japan badly enough. The additional problem is that this had zero consequences on his career, he was widely supported by editorials and colleagues and the stream of releases and reprints he got is a pretty obvious attempt to erase his wrongdoings from collective memory.
I think in this case piracy is the only ethical option, if you still want to consume his stories.

However take in mind that there is something called law in all the civilized world that judge the behaviour or every human being, so if you do something wrong you got punished. This author was already punished and now is clean and he back to draw manga, so is up to you to support him or not, personally i do not want to mix what a person like in the real life (even questionable content) and his creations. He deserve anyway to get a payment for his work.

It turns out the Shounen Jump pedo ring is not a fandom joke anymore...

If you fine with that, okay, but I'm at most going to pirate it.
