Manga 'Kami Kuzu☆Idol' Receives TV Anime in 2022

A television anime adaptation of Hijiki Isoflavone's Kami Kuzu☆Idol (Phantom of the Idol) manga was announced by Ichijinsha on Friday, scheduled for a 2022 broadcast. The publishing company also opened an official website, revealing the main cast, an announcement promo, and a teaser visual (pictured).

Asahi Mogami: Nao Touyama (Bokutachi no Remake)
Kazuki Yoshino: Shun Horie (Kanojo, Okarishimasu)

Synopsis
Yuuya, one half of the boy pop duo ZINGS, may be the laziest performer in the Japanese music industry. His partner is out there giving 110% every night (and, thankfully, he's quite popular), but Yuuya's half-assed, sloppy dancing, and his frankly hostile attitude toward the audience, has the fans hating him and his agent looking for any excuse to cut him loose. The career of a pop idol just isn't the path of easy leisure and adulation Yuuya expected...

After a particularly lifeless concert appearance, Yuuya meets a girl backstage. She's dressed to the nines in a colorful outfit, she's full of vim and vigor, and all she wants from life is to perform. There's just one problem: She's been dead for a year. This is the ghost of Asahi Mogami, the beloved singer whose time on the stage was tragically cut short, unless... If ghosts are real, is spirit possession really that much of a stretch? Comic ZERO-SUM began serializing the comedy supernatural manga in December 2017. Ichijinsha published the fourth volume on April 24, with the fifth volume shipping on January 25, 2022. The fifth volume's special edition will bundle a CD including ZINGS' debut song "Koi no BANG," a short drama, and cast talk. Kodansha US licensed the manga in English in July and plans to release the first volume on May 24, 2022

Wow, this is excellent news for me! I liked the manga. While I wait, I will spend time on my favorite site. I hope they will try to get the anime, and it will not disappoint me.

Seems like nice comedy anime the premise is like combo of Uramichi oniisan and Mieruko chan. Adding it to PTW

Sounds like Ginban Kaleidoscope, but swap ice-skating for music. Or maybe Hikaru no Go.

Probably some show was very popular trying to play the idol show in a dark way and so it turned into a trend. Remember how Madoka influenced mahou-shoujo after her.

I doubt it's an anime that caused this trend (like I said, this trend doesn't sell BDs nor CDs), a manga or LN may have led to the dead idol and idol ghost trend.

Probably some show was very popular trying to play the idol show in a dark way and so it turned into a trend. Remember how Madoka influenced mahou-shoujo after her.

We got another Idoly Pride style anime, this is the second anime so far with a dead idol as a premise and the second to have said dead idol as a ghost. This trend may not last though, as it doesn't sell at all.

Yes, the only other idol anime to have both males and females is Show By Rock!!, though that one is based on a game.
