Duration: 13 min

Staff
Plan & Scenario: Miyazaki Hayao
Director: Yamashita Akihiko (the character designer of "Zegapain", "Giant Robo")

Synopsis:
Once upon a time, there lived an old man and his wife in a mountain. One night, he found a bunch of mice heading to somewhere. He followed them and saw the mice playing Sumo. i guess they won't release it on DVD since it was made for Ghibli Museum (like they didn't for Mei to Konekobasu or other that matter).

this makes me "sad face" seeing that you can only see it at the Ghibli Museum like the short film Mei to Konekobasu which is the small after story of My Neighbor Totoro which I will try and see when I go there this year. I envy anyone who has been able to go there :(

I've been to the ghibli museum, it's totally different, the animation display was amazing o_O

they have there own mini cinema that they show the short anime's on, and the funny thing is, your ticket to the museum is a actual film cel strip of their latest movie and if you want to see this short animation, they have to stamp your ticket like old style cinema offices xD fantastic stuff !

(not to mention the museum is totally out in the middle of nowhere ! haha ! fun stuff :)

I'm not one of the biggest fan of Hayao Miyazaki yet I'm looking forward to watch this movie even if it seems a little bit childish for me ... ^__^

It'll be interesting to see if Miyazaki can do what he usually does in 13 min.

This particular story is well known, and there's also references to it in other japanese stories. I think there was one in some Akutagawa's novel, when a person sees a dream about mice doing sumo. Or maybe it wasn't Akutagawa, but some other writer...
