Toho opened an official website for a sequel of the anime series adapting Paru Itagaki's Beastars manga on Wednesday. Studio Orange is returning from the previous seasons to produce the sequel.

The first season premiered in Fall 2019 on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block, followed by a second season in Winter 2021—each running for 12 episodes. Netflix began streaming the seasons worldwide last March and July 15, respectively.

Itagaki began drawing the psychological drama manga in Shounen Champion magazine in September 2016 and ended it last October. Akita Shoten published the 22nd and final volume on January 8.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in November 2018 and began publishing it the following July. The 13th volume shipped on Tuesday.

Synopsis (2nd Season)
Beastar"—a title awarded to beasts who prove their excellence through fighting inequality to unite carnivores and herbivores in an anthropomorphic animal society. Cherryton Academy has gone five years without one such leader. However, following the murder of an alpaca within the school boundaries, the growing tension between the different species poses a greater need for a Beastar to ensure peace and harmony.

When Louis, the prime candidate for this prestigious role, rejects the offer and leaves the academy, the student council declares to honor any student who captures the culprit of the aforementioned murder as Beastar. Meanwhile, Legoshi's sense of duty as a strong wolf who must protect the weak pushes him to investigate the incident. To further complicate his life, he struggles to manage his complex feelings for the white rabbit, Haru. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

1. japan didn't care about SJW shit. get the fuck of western bias out of here
2. beastars was originally published in male oriented demographic with lot of editorial approval. it was made by male audience in mind, both by mangaka and editorial
3. author simply draw animal because she feel her style of people drawing didn't sell as much attention
4. author become mangaka because inspired by her father which like peak masculinity author. she even stated that she was actually want to draw martial arts series like his father was, but then realize she isn't made for it.

houseki no kuni/land of lustrous is currently fucking dead. why would they adapt dead series?

I really like Beastars, but HnK is better. Period. Orange have plenty of time to make at least a couple of seasons until Ichikawa finish her manga.

Also, i agree with you regarding there's a lot of fkn stupid people with that western shit here.
she need to revive the manga first, let alone finished the manga.

Oh great, moar SJW feminist trash keeps getting new sequels. At this rate, it won't be long until its more extreme SJW feminist counterpart, Oddtaxi gets a new sequel.

I'm once again asking Studio Orange for a Houseki no Kuni S2. Hopefully that happens after they finish adapting Beastars.

I wanna be happy for the people that like Beastars but with every new season announced, the possibility of Land of The Lustrous sequel decreases, that just infuriates me!
Someone kill the furry so we can have our gems pls...

I watched the second season recently on the Japanese Netflix (VPN rocks) and was so disappointed. The first season was really cool, had a really relatable stuff happening and yet, the second season was just low. It almost completely forgot Haru and Legoshi as a couple except for few scenes and focused completely on Legoshi's character development which went back and forth and Tem's death which should have been dealth with while in the first season + had all those weird side characters like the Boa who's waaay too big to be real and just everything happened too fast and got more weird with every episode. I missed the role Haru played in the first season and the whole 18+ thing that gave that anime spice :/ The only thing I liked about the second season was the creepy, gore parts. I hope this sequel will be better

The furry journey continues with the manga's last legs being somewhat disastrous, hopefully that won't be the case with the eventual aorementioned Fruits Basket adaptation with The Promised Neverland S2 treatment.

I would be excited, but since the manga went so downhill I stopped reading it and put it on hold until it was completely published in English by Viz Media, I’m not.

Melon sucks, so this season’s probably gonna suck too.

I don't know what could happens but I bet I would be disappointed

Given the absurdity of the last volumes of the manga, I never thought that once it was over, it would be popular enough to get a sequel.

I hope they just covered the dropout arc and write new things around that story, and doesn't really get into the melon arc. Or at least not adapting it blindly from the original source. I hope they end it up better than the manga. The last arc is so messy ...

Jul 21, 2021 2:56 AM by Nadhinas

If they are doing the melon arc, I hope they don't really stick with the main source..

I remember the arc after what they covered in the 2 seasons are kinda weak and a bit scattered here and there. The world building outside the school system is a bit messy (though it has potential, I think Itagaki-san didn't really planned it thoroughly and just patched things as she's writing).

I liked her concept that I started reading the manga before I finish the 2nd season. Watching Legoshi grow in a bigger society (and live independently) is nice, but there's so much loose plot that I ended hoping I didn't read the manga after the last arc covered in the anime.

I thought "NETFLIXアニメシリーズ" (Netflix Anime Series) means it will be streamed exclusively on Netflix (like Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan did for Ψ-shidou-hen (TV Anime Broadcast → Netflix Anime))?
