Ten Count I believe the people that announced the anime are thinking about cancelling it. I liked the show but like the manga is very graphic as it would follow that rape troupe. But the plot itself was interesting enough for me to read it. Now they would probably get rid of all those scenes in the anime if they made it, but yeah they aren't sure if they want to still make an anime for it. Super Lovers is weird because the boy is underage for most of the series. I watched it back when I was like 16 nd didn't recently understand that the age gap was kinda weird. But I can understand since they don't have the most spotless reputation, those two. Now a lot of gl has rape in it too, or is just them making out. I want to get into gl myself but it's hard because like I'm not attracted to women, I don't want to sit here and watch a hentai or them make out. I think I'm going to try to watch Bloom into you, I heard it's very good. But stuff like Sakura's trick I tried watching and it just was annoying watching them make out. Like I want romance. I love seeing people fall in love.
Tbh I also want(ed) to get into GL but I read a few manga and doujins and they left a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe I just picked the trashy ones who knows. If you have any good recs though (that aren't like, 100 chapters long) I'm all ears. The hentai part isn't even the problem for me, it's just that I come to a part that makes me roll my eyes and close the tab. Bloom into you has been on my ptw list for a while, I heard really good things about it.
Romance in general is a slippery slope for me. Some I love and others I can't stand, I don't know why exactly. Maybe when it comes to anime, I like seeing the progression and the lowkey stuff, not tongue fighting right of the bat. I'm a bit different when it comes to manga though.

fujo bait is an insult yes, the term itself it usually used by those who criticize female that like bl. So yes I do take it as an insult, because nobody uses it in a positive light. Also I'm not sure what you mean about bl anime not being made a lot, because we got three movies this year, a series next year, and given was just made a year ago, while I barely see any gl content being made. Most gl is hentai anyways so I guess that's good lol.
I do not see anything offensive in this. For example, Moriarty is an absolute, shameless fujo bait, but I love this show, also because of the fact that its male characters are not afraid to be sexy and beautiful. I also don't see anything abhorrent about a woman's sexual interest in a man's body. Women also have libido and I am disgusted with attempts to turn women into innocent maidens, whose intimacy is considered pure even if they sleep with other women.

Does calling something fujo bait mean to criticize anime? Could the person who praised several BL manga and calling Yuri on ICE! good anime, dislike BL? Is it that difficult considering how rarely BL anime is produced these days?

Oh I know covid fucked up pretty much all of anime. I was more refering to the Ten count adaptation that was announced almost 3 years ago (?) and the 6 lovers OVA series that got delayed 3 times, 2 times before covid. I wasn't even really that hyped for any of them, it just seemed odd to me there were so many delays for these BL in particular.

it's fine. But everything was recently delayed because of covid. It wasn't just the bl.

I'm not that familiar with how much GL is being put out (yearly or by season), but I remember seeing a full anime last season or the one before, Picnic-something. And the one with some sci-fi post apocalyptic setting some time before too. That one seemed interesting, could watch it when I find the time. Anyway, the trend I did notice is that BL gets more movies (Etranger, Twittering birds, Given) while GL has more episodic series (correct me if I'm wrong, maybe it's just me lol). Also, a lot of BL stuff sadly gets delayed into oblivion. (sorry to barge in to your convo with Robert btw)

It's the fact I literally see you in every fourm post about bls saying weird stuff about the anime. Like it personally seems like you dislike the genre from the way you talk. You just seem to dislike bl from your comments on other forums and I see you say fujo bait or bl bait a lot too. Just something I noticed.

I like how you yourself came up with that I don’t like BL, so that later you’ll be indignant that I’m talking about shows that I don’t like. MAL doesn't write about BL that often, so "being on every topic" isn't a big deal lol. And I also don’t understand how fanservice in such shows denies fanservice in male-targeted shows? Did I say something about this somewhere?

why do I literally see you in every fourm topic with shows that have bl undertones or bl itself. I'm pretty sure I saw you in the re main fourm calling it bl bait because it had fanservice for women, like a whole ecchi section for men doesn't exist. It seems like you don't like bl, so why do you keep inputting your opinion on a gente you don't like?

Of course, personal attack is a very good argument, but you still haven't answered that this is another BL with seme and uke.

Yes, I am well-aware of the history of BL and how it began as a subgenre of Shoujo. And I’m fully aware that in the west, practically any relationship between two men in a manga makes it BL. My point was that the AUTHOR HERSELF does not call it BL and therefore it is NOT a BL, hence why it is shelved in the Shoujo section and not the BL section. It is why, in this case, I said Sasamiya was a shoujo and not a BL, and clearly drew a line between them. In Harusono-san’s own words, it’s a Boy’s LIFE manga. It’s because of this distinction that people weren’t even sure a romantic relationship would develop between the two titular leads. BL manga is often laden with tropes that make it specific to BL and Sasamiya is free from most of them or inverts them instead. Why on EARTH does a manga that pertains to two boys possibly falling in love have to make it a BL. Shounen manga don’t have to have a romance tag to include romance in it - that’s just ridiculous.
Ok? Then you should have said from the start that the author chooses to refer to Sasaki to Miyano as a boys' life manga, and not a boys' love one. It's still a ridiculous statement, but it's not as ridiculous as saying that it is not BL because it is a shoujo. And I guess it's the author's wish.
Still, Sasaki to Miyano is a manga in which the main focus is the growing relationship between two boys. There is hardly a consistent plot beyond that - aside from the growing relationship between (surprise, surprise!) two other boys. There's nothing about Sasaki to Miyano that warrants its separation from the BL genre. There is a shit ton of fluffy BL out there that don't adhere to the tropes that BL is so often associated with. Subverting a trope or two within a genre doesn't mean that a work suddenly stops belonging to that genre, either. It's not so ludicrous for someone to refer to it as a BL.
Shounen manga don’t have to have a romance tag to include romance in it - that’s just ridiculous.
Sure, but if that shounen manga is heavily focused on romance, then you best believe that it will be tagged as romance. But feel free to prove me wrong. I'll stand corrected.
Would you consider Shimanami Tasogare, Ao no Flag or Koi to Uso BL just because they depict relationships between men? Well, surprise! They aren’t. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a manga not technically being a BL and still contains a relationship between two men. It normalizes the existence of LGBT+ relationships in spaces they haven’t traditionally existed in.
Shimanami Tasogare is a coming of age story about a gay boy who learns to accept himself and finds comfort within a space where other LGBTQ+ people exist. Sure, he's in love with another boy, but they never get officially together and that is far from being the main focus of the manga. So, clearly, it wouldn't make a whole lot of sense to refer to it as a BL. It's an actual LGBTQ+ manga, and not a tale about two straight boys who happened to fall in love with each other - like Sasaki to Miyano. It makes no sense to compare the two. I haven't read the other two manga that you mentioned so I can't comment on them.
I think normalizing the existence of LGBTQ+ relationships outside of BL would be a great thing. I just don't see how exactly Sasaki to Miyano is doing that.

I don’t know why people who don’t read BL think they’re well-versed enough in the genre to have a legitimate conversation that doesn’t just go-around in circles. While it hasn’t exactly been made clear on MAL, Sasaki to Miyano isn’t even a BL, technically - the mangaka has made it perfectly clear that Sasamiya is a shoujo.
How exactly are shoujo and BL mutually exclusive? Shoujo refers to works that are aimed at younger women, while BL is an umbrella term that encompasses every genre whose main focus is the relationship between two men. BL (or, more specifically, shounen ai) literally started off as a subgenre of shoujo in the 70s, and while it has definitely evolved into its own thing and there are now BL-dedicated magazines that publish these titles, the target audience is still women, for the most part? It makes no sense to say that something isn't a BL because it is a shoujo.

however straight women have the ability to write stories that can represent us due to their proximit to the lgbt community, something most straight men do not have, i didn't agree on them saying straight romance was unrealisitic i agreed on them with the fact that there is hypocrisy going on, also most female bl mangakas are bisexual women
Lol, what? I have a hard time believing some of these BL mangakas have ever interacted with an LGBTQ+ person in their entire lives. Obviously, that's just speculation on my part based on the works and portrayals of gay men that I have read, but being a women doesn't automatically make you an ally. Also, considering how private the majority of mangakas are, you literally have no way of knowing whether or not most BL mangakas are bisexual women. I have no idea where you pulled that from.
