Voice Actress Yui Ishikawa Announces Marriage

Celebrating her 32nd birthday, voice actress Yui Ishikawa announced her marriage to a man outside of the industry on her official Twitter on Sunday.

"I'm marrying someone I have been dating for a long time. He's a wonderful person who supports me, as I'm a shy and timid person, so I can smile like I should," she said. She thanked her fans for their continued support and promised to improve herself more as a person and as a voice actress.

Ishikawa began her career in 2007 voicing radio dramas and acting in stage plays under Sunaoka Office. She debuted as a voice actress the same year with her performance as Deianeera Y Leisha Artoria Ol Yunos in Heroic Age. She left Sunaoka Office in 2019 and joined mitt management.

Her most notable roles include Mikasa Ackerman from Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan), Violet Evergarden from Violet Evergarden, and Enterprise from Azur Lane.

Ishikawa won the award for Best Supporting Actress at the 8th Seiyuu Awards in 2014 for her role as Mikasa Ackerman and Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 15th Seiyuu Awards in 2021 for her role as Violet Evergarden in Violet Evergarden the Movie.

Although seeing news like this makes me feel old, as I'm the same age as her. It's like reading a post on social media from my old friends from way back in high school that have either gotten engaged or even expecting children soon. Meanwhile, I'm...still at it, facing life one baby step at a time. Hopefully my future special someone (if I may even be so lucky) shares the same passion I have for my anime/manga hobby, as that's kind of a deal breaker.

Wow that's the 3 seiyuu from my favorites list that's gotten married this past year. I wish her all the best of course. Other than those roles she also voiced 2B in the Japanese audio for Nier:Automata. Outstanding roles on all of those. My favorite is still the classic Mikasa.
