Publishing company Kadokawa opened an official website for a new television anime for siro's Yama no Susume (Encouragement of Climb) manga on Friday, revealing the main staff and teaser visual (pictured). The new anime series will air under the title Yama no Susume: Next Summit and feature a returning cast.

Yuusuke Yamamoto (Yama no Susume, Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu) is returning to direct the new television anime at animation studio 8bit. Yuusuke Matsuo (The iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, Black★Rock Shooter (OVA)) is once again serving as the character designer.

Cast
Aoi Yukimura: Yuka Iguchi (Sora yori mo Tooi Basho)
Hinata Kuraue: Kana Asumi (Non Non Biyori)
Kaede Saitou: Yoko Hikasa (Demi-chan wa Kataritai)
Kokona Aoba: Yui Ogura (Hinako Note)
Honoka Kurosaki: Nao Touyama (Kiniro Mosaic)

The climbing-theme adventure slice of life manga has been serialized in Comic Earth☆Star magazine in August 2011. Earth Star Entertainment published the 19th volume last August, with the 20th volume scheduled for release on April 12.

The first anime season aired in 12 3-minute episodes in Winter 2013, followed by a short special episode two months later. The 24-episode second season featured a duration of 13 minutes per episode and bundled two unaired episodes with its second and seventh Blu-ray volumes.

Yama no Susume: Omoide Present, the sequel original video anime featuring an anime-original story, shipped on home video in October 2017. The third and latest season premiered in Summer 2018.

More of this lovely show. I hope this franchise follows its steady growth in quality. Last season was already one of the greats in the genre.

All seasons of this show are short. This is mainly used as an exhibition of various animators and their style, so the full length would be very expensive.

Well season 2 was the same length as a regular 1 cour show but I don't know if having shorter episodes but double the amount is any cheaper or not

It's still 10+ minutes, only with more episodes. This was probably due to the hype around the first manga adaptation.

Yes! More time on mountain climbing girls! I assume this is the 4th season. Odd name change though, but I wonder what mountain's summit the title refers to.

This is nice to see. We have yet to reach the mountains peak!

Lol there was enough interest to get another season? Hope this actually becomes a trend, esp for shorter length shows

Unexpected at the same time excited to this good news, it's been 3 years and am already missing Yama no Susume hope they keep that 12 minute format. Now I'll pray to iyashikei gods that Non Non Biyori will get 4th season too.

Well, I'm excited for this. But I have always been confused at the fact that AIC's facebook account has season 1 uploaded to their account.

What a great news!!!!!!

More Yama no susume = more comfy mountain climbing. I really hope they will do a full-length episode because 13 mins are not enough for this series.

Is this my week? It's been one new anime I want after another! The second and third season were so good so I'm not saying no to a new season at all.

Mar 18, 2021 8:18 PM by DeadlyRaven

That came out of nowhere! I've been waiting for some news on this show, a whole new season is something to really look forward to!

That came out of nowhere, looks like the trend this year is surprise sequels of 2010's anime especially third and fourth seasons.

wow I’m actually really hyped about this since I didn’t expect it to get another season after the third one, this show is massive underrated though so hopefully this announcement entices others to watch this series
