A television anime adaptation of Tomoki Izumi's Mieruko-chan manga was announced by Kadokawa on Thursday. The publishing company also opened an official website, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), teaser promotional video, and its 2021 premiere.

Synopsis
Miko is a typical high school student whose life turns upside down when she suddenly starts to see gruesome and hideous monsters. Despite being completely terrified, Miko carries on with her daily life, pretending not to notice the horrors that surround her. She must endure the fear in order to keep herself and her friend Hana out of danger, even if that means coming face to face with the absolute worst. Blending both comedy and horror, Mieruko-chan tells the story of a girl who tries to deal with the paranormal by acting indifferent toward it. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Izumi originally posted the comedy horror manga on his Twitter account in September 2018, which garnered over 60k retweets and 180k likes. Kadokawa's ComicWalker web manga portal began serializing the manga in November that year. The fourth volume shipped on September 23, with the fifth volume scheduled for release on March 22.

Yen Press licensed the manga in English last July and published the second volume on February 23. The third volume is planned for a June 22 release.

Mieruko-chan ranked tenth under the Web Manga category in the 5th Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in 2019—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico.

I'm super hyped! However, the manga only has 33chaps and it's monthly release.

Why Passione? Given the nature of the original work, this could be the perfect source for Lerche's anime.

Me too. I liked the new Higurashi and their ecchi anime in general, but I don't understand why they? The original manga has enough potential to get an AAA studio.

Why are you surprise?

- First, it is a web manga. Web mangas hardly get the same care as the rest when it comes to adaptations (example of an even more popular web manga that went thru the same: ReLife)
- Second, it comes from the publication ComicWalker, which isn't exactly one of the most profitable publication groups of Kadokawa.
- Third, not big investors(s) are attached to it. There probably isn't any.
- Fourth, even though the manga has a somewhat strong following in Japan, it is still a niche manga. Companies usually avoid investing too much (time/money) in these type of series.

Anyhow, I'm still looking forward to it.

This manga was literally awarded for high level art a few months ago. Not to mention, this is one of those titles that are so popular with Western audiences that a significant number of replies to the author's tweets are written in English. The Japanese love this.

I like horror. And the PV have strong Yuri vibes . Girl pressing her breast against other girls back,,YEEEEEEEEEEES

And In the manga my little lesbians are saying
,,,YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

But there are a male in the manga . And I prefer only female cast it works better for my taste. Hopefully either he wont be in the anime. Or he will be good support and then I will have no problems with him. Going to give it a chance anyhow

Awwwww the lesbians are so cute holding on to each other for safety ❤ ❤ And I really like strong females that protects their girlfriends

Expected ever since Yen Press randomly licensed it.

I will gladly watch this. Studio will be able to do the job. Should be a good time.

Was not expecting this to get an anime, not that I'm complaining though.

the shonen tards and twitter critics gets blow mind if they see an anime like this

I highly doubt that would be the case, horror anime have existed before, heck, series with light fanservice have existed before.

At most the reactions will be eye rolls or just a "this isn't my thing,"

Not my thing, I don't like the art style, coloring, or presentation of the secondary character's chest.

I'll pass on this one. Funny story, I actually came across the PV for this show by accident, since YouTube will recommend me PVs here and there

Passione is a garbage tier studio
the probability of this being a good adaptation is so low

Mar 18, 2021 5:34 AM by tragedydesu

comedy horror? I'll give it a shot though

Interesting its horror comedy which is rare these days. Will watch. IR staff helming it, so curious if have a fanservice. And the FeMC is THICC and other female cast too.

Damn, I have been planning to read its manga for a decade now but still haven't started it. Better hurry before the anime starts airing.

Well, this is a pleasant surprise to start the day with. I do have some concerns about how the anime will pull off the designs for the spirits - as they're so insanely detailed and intricate a lot of the time - but I'm excited nonetheless as this is proving to be a very good manga so far.

Either they where the first ones offered it or they where next on the list after a few rejections

Well, they hired a separate dude to paint ghosts anyway, so I hope it doesn't suck. Although Hana's chest really scares me, yes.

I’m really worried for this one. There’s no way Passione is gonna do justice to the manga. My bet is on CG monsters or overall bad animation
