An anime adaptation of Rieko Hinata's Hikari no Ou novel was announced by satellite broadcasting station WOWOW on Thursday. The anime is being produced by animation studio Signal.MD (Net-juu no Susume, Hirune Hime: Shiranai Watashi no Monogatari).

Synopsis
Hikari no Ou takes place in the aftermath of humanity's last war. The world is enveloped with a black forest and people have become infected with a pathogen that causes them to burst into flame in the presence of natural fire. The only safe source of fire can be obtained by hunting black beasts, Flame Spirits, which reside deep in the forest. Among the fire hunters, rumors of "The King of Fire Hunters" began spreading recently—an individual who would be able to harvest the man-made star, the millennium comet that once wandered the void.

The story revolves around Touko, a village-raised girl, and Koushi, a former student in the capital. The encounter between the two, who were not supposed to cross paths, will change the fate of the world.

Holp Shuppan began publishing post-apocalyptic fantasy novel in December 2018, featuring artworks by Akihiro Yamada—known for his illustrations in Fuyumi Ono's Juuni Kokuki (The Twelve Kingdoms) novel series and Bones's original sci-fi mecha anime RahXephon. The fourth volume shipped on September 3.

The atmosphere created in the work is sensational. I hope you make a good anime.

Have you read the original work? What does it look like? The atmosphere of these titles is usually too weird for me, but I want to try.

If follow a novel, it will be a beautiful anime...

Oohh, this sounds interesting. I'll wait until there's a PV/teaser and decide then if I want to watch this.

I really need a PV, but either way, I am interested in it for now. Will stay on my radar for sure.

Count me in, I’m definitely intrigued by the synopsis up there but it could go either way so I’m hoping for more announcements to come soon.
