'Kanojo, Okarishimasu' Receives Second Season
The 12th and final episode of the Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent-a-Girlfriend) anime series ended with a second season announcement on Saturday.
Synopsis
Dumped by his girlfriend, emotionally shattered college student Kazuya Kinoshita attempts to appease the void in his heart through a rental girlfriend from a mobile app. At first, Chizuru Mizuhara seems to be the perfect girl with everything he could possibly ask for: great looks and a cute, caring personality.
Upon seeing mixed opinions on her profile after their first date, and still tormented by his previous relationship, Kazuya believes that Chizuru is just playing around with the hearts of men and leaves her a negative rating. Angry at her client's disrespect towards her, Chizuru reveals her true nature: sassy and temperamental, the complete opposite of Kazuya's first impression. At that very moment, Kazuya receives news of his grandmother's collapse and is forced to bring Chizuru along with him to the hospital.
Although it turns out to be nothing serious, his grandmother is ecstatic that Kazuya has finally found a serious girlfriend, which had always been her wish. Unable to tell her the truth, Kazuya and Chizuru are forced into a fake relationship—acting as if they are truly lovers. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
The television anime produced by TMS Entertainment premiered on July 11 on MBS' Super Animeism programming block. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles as it aired in Japan. The company subsequently began streaming an English dub.
The anime series adapts Reiji Miyajima's romantic comedy manga, also known by its short name KanoKari, which has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since July 2017. Kodansha published the 17th volume on September 17.
Kodansha Comics licensed the manga series in English last July. The second volume went on sale on August 24, with the third volume planned for an October 20 release.

I don't get it why so many peoples hate when what they consider a "garbage" anime gets a second season. Just DON'T WATCH the 2nd season if you hate the 1st one. It doesn't matter if the studio decided to make the 2nd or 3rd season when they have the budget. And I don't think the studio will make the second season without thinking whether people like it or not. Just let the fans enjoy the second season.
Here's your (You):
KanoKari is mid or low tier manga where author can't get anything straight and go with the flow, sometimes he remembers Kazu and Chorizo study at an university so they got have stuff to do and they have friend that are nonexistent after the beach arc.
Giving a second season on this means that Anime as a way to adapt manga/LN is dead, they just compilethe best scenes while forgetting Chorizo is kind of a bitch like any woman, same for Mami or Ruka.
And by saying this I'd wish the production studio adapt some good manga that you probably never read, other than KanoKari, hell it's a shame they're giving this a second season because it's a pointless arc and still you'll be missing out the current stuff.

For Rent-A-Girlfriend especially, this anime won multiple award categories for Summer 2020 anime I believe. Def. top three.

April fools came early for 2021.
This trash don’t deserve season 2.
There are great shows that needs s2 like
- The devil is part timer
- No game no life and many more epic animes out there but no s2, I have no idea why people keep funding trash shows as this.
Degenerate nation wilding with this announcement. Too bad I'm not a part of that group so I'm not able to be excited for this piece of shit to get a s2.
Trash like RAG get a s2, but actual good stuff like Devil Part Timer don’t. What are the anime gods angry at us for, ffs??

The whole point of rental girlfriend service is to go on a date with some girl so yes it is a date, I'm not talking about dating as in having a relationship but simply going out with multiple girls with the whole rental service being an excuse. You completely missed the point about Sumi, she's not fit to work as a rental girlfriend but they still introduced her as one just so they could go on a (practice?) date. Like why do all the girls in his harem have to be rental (except Mami)!?
Just because you aren't fit to do a certain type of job doesn't mean you shouldn't try if it interests you. Doing only the things you're already good at is a great way to never improve yourself. Sumi could have many reasons for wanting to go into that line of work. I'm pretty sure I read that she joined the agency as a way to better her communication skills, which is a perfectly valid, believable reason.
Also, about your first point... I mean yea that's the premise of the entire show. I don't know what you were expecting?
My point is that the show takes a nuanced look at an industry that actually exists in the real world and the people that use the service. Going into a show where the premise is explained right in the title and then calling it a bad show based on just the premise without even giving an opinion on how it was actually handled seems shallow minded.
I know that the title of the show itself is "Rental Girlfriend" but I wasn't expecting his entire harem to be rental. Was kind of expecting it to be like Nisekoi where only Chitoge was Raku's "false love" and the other girls are introduced through other means.

The merchandise must've sold well then.
Re: dakimakura. I'm just replying to this so the pics dont take up half the page.
Am I the only one that find dakimakura a bit... creepy? Like, I guess the ones from this show are better considering it's set in a college instead of a high school, but the thought of a half naked anime girl on a pillow that you're meant to hug is fucking weird, man.
It seems like the embodiment of desperation, and that's coming from someone who thoroughly understands what feeling lonely is like.
I try not to judge people who buy them (well, I judge some because some of yall are out there buying dakimakura that have a naked 12 y/o on them) but I can't help but think it's really fucking weird.
Also, I'm not gonna get into the whole "it's fictional!!1" debate because if I have to explain to one more dumbass that fiction doesn't exist in a void and that the constant exposure to certain themes and ideals in fiction can and does warp your perception of those themes irl I'll lose it.

I disagree with this, the rental girlfriend part is just an excuse for Kazuya to date multiple girls at the same time. Take Sumi for example, even if it's for some quick cash, she's not at all suited to work as a rental girlfriend, there are other part time jobs she could have done but if she wasn't introduced as a rental so that Kazuya could go on a date with her. It's just your typical harem anime.
Except that it's pretty explicitly shown that Kazuya isn't actually dating any of them, and when he deludes himself into thinking they're actually into him it's rightfully framed as him being a narcissistic idiot who can't read the situation he's in for the life of him.
Also Sumi is possibly the weirdest example, because during that 'date' even the self-absorbed Kazuya was aware that it was entirely an act and that the whole thing was simply to try to get her used to her job.
