'Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun' Reveals Additional Staff, January 2021 Premiere

The official website of the television anime adaptation of Yuuki Yaku and Fly's Jaku-Chara Tomozaki-kun (Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki) light novel revealed on Wednesday additional staff members and the first key visual (pictured). The anime series is scheduled to premiere in January 2021.

Shinsuke Yanagi (Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta?) is helming the anime at Project No.9, and Fumihiko Shimo (Ryuuou no Oshigoto!) is handling the series composition. Akane Yano (Choujin Koukousei-tachi wa Isekai demo Yoyuu de Ikinuku you desu!) is serving as the character designer.

Yaku began publishing the romantic comedy light novel through Shokagukan's Gagaga Bunko label in May 2016. Volume 8.5, containing a drama CD, was released on April 17.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in November 2018 and shipped the fourth volume on August 18. The fifth volume is scheduled to be released on November 17.

Its on my PTR list. The designs look cheap and uninteresting with this studio its to be expected. The staff is major red flag too

Wew, what a lot of buzz words and wild guessing but none of it is true! Actually the opposite of your description will fit this series better but of course you can always pretend you know everything just by looking at its synopsis at first glance. Ngl, I do like the art design. Not to mention the staff team is fine, Netoge and Ryuuou artstyle was good. Now I haven't read the LN of this series so Idk what to expect.

The anime staff is not really good. Project no 9 always have those ugly color design, this is what I dreaded the most. Shinsuke Yanagi has directed some anime, but he's not really that good and they're just bland. The character designer, Yano Akane is not really good too, I know she's being perceived by Japanese public as a "young and beautiful" animator, featured her in some tv show, etc... but in reality she isn't even a good animator to begin with. Her preference to loli design and overly moe style also doesn't help, look at Netoge, Ryuuou no Oshigoto, ChoYoyu... that's kind of design she made. On top of that, Tomozaki has the shortest production cycle. Since Netoge no Yome, Shinsuke Yanagi and Yano Akane's team have always produced anime within 1 year 9 months cycle, Netoge (Spring 2016) -> Ryuuou (Winter 2018) -> ChoYoyu (Fall 2019), if we're following this cycle Tomozaki should be out in Summer 2021. On top of that there's corona effect that made the team had to do their work from home too... so production wise, this bound to be a disaster.

Now my only hope is the guy who writes series composition, Fumihiko Shimo, doesn't rush the adaptation and just end it at volume 3.
