Synopsis
Within an abandoned building in South Korea lies a white coffin, from which rises Cadis Etrama Di Raizel "Rai"—an unimaginably beautiful, dignified, and noble man. Awakening in this unknown time, Rai must seek out someone he can trust—his loyal companion, Frankenstein. To begin with, Rai attempts to blend into human society by transforming his old-fashioned clothing into the pristine blazer of the nearby Ye Ran High School. As it turns out, the principal of the school is his servant Frankenstein.

After slumbering for the past 820 years, Rai requires Frankenstein's help to adapt to the current age, so Frankenstein enrolls him as a new student in order to help him understand modern society and experience a normal life. Frankenstein's plans, however, soon go awry not only because of the problems stemming from modern society, but also unresolved conflicts from him and his master's troubled past. Left with no other choice, Rai must resort to using his mysterious power to protect those he holds dear. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

The supernatural action manhwa began in Naver Webtoon (now Line Webtoon) in December 2007 and concluded last January. Naver began releasing the chapters in English in June 2014. Noblesse has garnered a cumulative views of 4.6 billion worldwide.

South Korean animation production company Studio Animal produced an original video anime in December 2015. An original net anime titled Noblesse: Awakening by Production I.G streamed on Crunchyroll and YouTube in February 2016, adapting the first season of the manhwa.

Just as full disclaimer: I rarely am interested in a Manga or Manhwa, and prefer to watch Anime, but ToG is the only one I read quite a bit of, a couple of years back.

I know people really over-hyped ToG. Still, I find it hard to blame them, when every frickin Manga and Light Novel under the horizon got adapted, even if their scores are sometimes really low, but nobody batted an eye to any of the Manhwa existing thus-far.

But for an anime fan the anime might seem too low-budget, while the Manhwa was always about the story and not the quality of graphics (the first 100+ chapters were terribly drawn if I am honest). Since the anime adaption has the same problems on a different level, fans might have found it easier to swallow than new-comers that only have experience with the anime.

TL;DR, I get were both sides of the argument are coming from. I just don't think it's a reason to lump together all Manhwa (or adaptations of those Manhwa) and be biased to it being all good or all bad. Community or no community, watch and judge for yourself. Not only might it be different per studio, it can probably greatly differ per Manhwa and also which subject and genres it deals with.

Not hoping much after tog and goh adaptations.

The Tower of God adaption was amazing. If this is half as good, I'll be happy.

I wouldn't say "half as good", but I definitely agree. ToG was not meant to be as flashy and action-oriented, so I could personally live with the art-quality. And the story was nicely done, as far as an animated version could have been, IMO.

I was personally more disappointed in GoH, because it was pretty and flashy as it should, but in every other aspect they did a terrible job.

According to many people that have read most or all 3 Manhwa, they have the most hopes for Noblesse to succeed. And even before I knew what a Manhwa was or even the difference, I heard that name circle around in the community, so if any of the three, this is the one that might make it or break it as far as adaptions in that sphere.

I am hoping that this webtoon will be good!

This looks almost worse than k-pop.

I can't believe this anime is finally coming out! ^. ^ I really like anime and manga with a similar plot. I am sure that this anime will definitely not be worse than The God of High School, The Misfit of Demon King Academy and other anime with a similar plot. I also hope that the dub will come out very quickly. I don't know Japanese, so I usually watch all dubbed anime on the site https://ww5.dubbedanime.net/. I am sure that they will not miss such a popular title and will quickly release a dub. I'm curious to know what you expect from this anime? Do you think it will be able to replenish the lists of favorite anime for many anime people?

Good luck with that, Solo Leveling is already confirmed...and the fans of this one are also bad.

Really tired of seeing them overhyping mediocre stuff and their little wars between themselves.

Actually agree. Discount HunterXHunter (TOG) fans kept throwing shade at discount DBZ with teens (GOH) despite the fact their only similarity was being shounen, long-running and korean; both kept simping about this would be opening a lot of new possibilities for the animu industry and thus should be mass supported, instead of speaking about their merits itselves as standalone works.

Like, Freezing was korean originated as well, no one did a drama out of it, was just a battle ecchi harem school with beta male protagonist.

I have nothing against non-Japan originated anime by itself, I actually kinda liked King's Avatar (who is chinese, BTW), but come on...

Oh? Will you look at that. They're actually hiring some competent studios now instead of that no-name studio that adapted a manwha 2 seasons ago. At least, we know the visuals are going to look a lot better than that dogshit anime called Tower of Simp.

Ok, I honestly cannot understand this attitude. Tower of God had gorgeous visuals. I think it's refreshing to have a SciFi style, and I prefer this style compared with the visuals of Kimetsu no Yaiba, or re:Zero. If anything, the Noblesse trailer leaves me disappointed with the visuals following ToG

TOG had zero shading in their colours. Everything was just so bright, even at night, or dark places.
Dunno what's scifi about that. Is not like it was literally BADLY animated, but the visual choices gave me (and some others) a feeling of amateurism.

Also it was rushed (like 5 or 6 chapters in episode 1, WTH?) as f, anime onlies literally had to either start reading the damn manga or read long essays explaining what the hell was actually going on.

At least GOH is very simple to understand, even if they are rushing unnecessarily. Courtesy of being a barebones plot.

I actually hope they will be able to pull off this manhwa. Trailer looked so generic, it's like every other high school anime with hot guys in it + some fighting, which Noblesse is far from.

he's just provided the character designs and wasn't a CAD.

I'm still not convinced tho

crunchyroll's pvs are shit so it's hard to judge it well because of the way the edited it.

also the character designer and CAD is one from I.G's animators so it should be good unless the schedule is the opposite.

(the fact that the Chief Animation Supervisor worked on Magmell doesn't help)

I am super-duper excited for this... is a long time dream coming true... but watching at the trailer, and seeing what happened with God of Highschool, I am really worried about the pacing. I mean, I would be relaxed if the anime had 24 episodes, but I am sure it's going to have 12-13 like the others, which makes the trailer problematic... I mean, the trailer shows it clear that we get to the up to the 3rd major arc... adapting some 130-140 chapters in 12 episodes, is simply ridiculous. This would not be an anime adaptation, is just skimming trough the story... If they can't do the coming justice, better not do the anime at all. The art is also quite disappointing to be fair, but I could get over that if the pacing is good.

Seems interesting, I'll keep it in mind

Let this be the last manhwa adaptation pls

Noblesse has great art so seeing the trailer with subpar animation doesn't sit right with me. I expected better from production IG tbh. I will be watching it regardless, though I am 99% it will be rushed as hell

Seems like this will be the best out of the three crunchyroll manwha but considering the previous two have been rushed out my hopes aren't high

I LOVED noblesse awakening 2016 by production ig and 4 years later you expect them to be better but they said nope we going back to 2009

Aug 15, 2020 1:50 AM by Jewlitt

This should be at least better than The God of High School

Well boys, get ready for another fuckfest where the manhwa haters will fight wars against the koreaboos about the quality of the yet another rushed crunchyroll shit orgy. Then, when Noblesse turns out to have the quality of a fried piece of turkey meat, the haters will proclaim their loud victories as the manhwa readers cry themselves to sleep whilst listening to unravel.

God please no more crunchyroll manhwa adaptations. I beg you.
