On Wednesday, Toei Animation opened a teaser website revealing the anime adaptation of Reiko Hiroshima's children's novel series Fushigi Dagashiya Zenitendou. The anime will follow the animated film that adapts the first volume of the novel.

Synopsis
Zenitendo is a mysterious candy store that only lucky people can reach. All the candy recommended by Beniko, the owner of the store, is perfectly suited to the buyer's troubles. However, it depends on whether the candy will be used or eaten correctly that it can bring happiness or misfortune.

Illustrated by jyajya, Hiroshima's hit novel series is published by Kaiseisha and accumulated a total of 1.15 million copies. The 13th volume was shipped on April 14, 2020.

The series is adapted as an animated movie scheduled to screen during Toei Manga Festival on April 24 this year but was postponed due to the government regulations concerning the coronavirus outbreak. Subtitled as Tsuri Taiyaki, the movie will adapt the first volume following an eight-year-old boy Keiji getting a mysterious snack that can make him fish taiyaki (Japanese fish-shaped cake). Satoshi Tomioka (Usavich) directs the anime film, while Yuji Kobayashi (Precure) pens the script.

I wonder how dark the misfortunes would be compared to what I've heard over the years about Warau Salesman.

Wouldn't expect this from toei

there are already 13 volumes so how much will this adapt from volume 2? and each novel is a standalone or there is an overarching mystery plot that is the main question?

Last few years has been a big dry spell of Toei new franchise animation so hyped for this nonetheless.
