Second Season of 'Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta...' Announced for 2021
The 12th and final episode of Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta... (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!) ended with a second season announcement on Sunday, scheduled for a 2021 premiere. The official website revealed a commemorative visual (pictured above) and a 30-second commercial.
Synopsis
Most people would prefer being the protagonist of a world full of adventure, be it in a game or in another world. But, unfortunately, a certain girl is not so lucky. Regaining the memories of her past life, she realizes that she was reborn in the world of Fortune Lover—one of the games she used to play.
Unfortunately, the character she was reincarnated into—Katarina Claes—is the game's main antagonist, who faces utter doom in every ending. Using her extensive knowledge of the game, she takes it upon herself to escape from the chains of this accursed destiny.
However, this will not be an easy feat, especially since she needs to be cautious as to not set off death flags that may speed up the impending doom she is trying to avoid. Even so, to make a change that will affect the lives of everyone around her, she strives—not as the heroine—but as the villainess. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
The television anime produced by Silver Link. began airing on April 5. Crunchyroll simulcast the show with subtitles and began streaming an English dub on May 16.
The anime series adapts Satoru Yamaguchi's comedy fantasy light novel, also known by its short name Hamefura, which she began publishing in July 2014 on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website. Ichijinsha began publishing the novel with illustrations by Nami Hidaka in August 2015 and shipped the ninth volume on April 20. Hamefura has a cumulative 3 million copies of its volumes in print.
Hidaka also began a manga adaptation in Comic ZERO-SUM in August 2017. Ichijinsha published the fifth volume on May 25.
J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English in September 2018 and released the fifth volume digitally on April 26, with the sixth volume scheduled for a June 28 release. Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the manga and shipped the third volume on April 7.

This show was pretty great but did it really need a second season? I felt everything concluded neatly in the 12 episodes
Same thoughts. The first season would've wrapped up nicely with just 10 episodes (without the fillers).
The premise feels pretty exhausted at this point.

I absolutely agree with you.
But the source material is going on so they want to adapt it.

Yeah, the otome game story is over and it will all probably be your typical harem shenanigans and slice-of-life Bakarina from now on but since I actually enjoyed the 'filler' stuff, I don't mind that.

The first season was a surprise hit for me. It was pure fun and the characters are very likeable, so I do look forward to the second season next year. =D

Some years ago, lots of hit shows were either too late to have a sequel and their hype already died, or worse they didn't even have one at all. Lately it seems they announce sequel soon as they see that the anime is successful.

I hope season 2 covers the second half of the school life and follows the light novel and manga as much as they can. I do hope that they develop the story a bit more (not gonna lie the ending for me was a little rushed but that's just how I felt anyway). Still glad it's getting a 2nd season and excited for what they make!
