Funimation acquires new 'old' anime.

Funimation announced on the New York Anime Festival that they had acquired the anime series for Initial D. This would include the series Initial D - First stage, Initial D - Second stage, two hour movie Initial D - Third stage, Initial D - Fourth stage and the OVA Initial D - Extra stage.
They also acquired the series X, and the X OVA.

On topic; this is good news, I'd like to see them remastered if possible, and new dubs could be good if they decide to go that route as opposed to just redistributing the existing ones. It certainly needs it since the old dub totally changed the soundtrack and everything. :( If they can relaunch the entire franchise it could be quite excellent.

Good for them then. X was good. Didn't really like Initital D but I like Wangan Midnight so go figure I guess. -.- At least FUNimation is still in a position where they can license new things to go alongside their old stuff.

Inital D is EPIC! I'll finally get my hands on the 3rd Stage movie that I love so much! <333

And X of course is pretty great! My favorite CLAMP made series.

So, X/1999 is nice. I didn't realize it was so hard to buy.

Finally, I can get my hand on X/1999 and Initial D but I heard there was rumor that there was a 5th season for Initial D. Been waiting for maybe four year now but it seem false. T^T

Don't know why people are saying X TV is "nearly impossible" to find when all five volumes of the X TV Remix set have been available in RightStuf's Bargain Bin for a long time. Heck, there are well over 400 copies of each volume in stock. I can understand being totally unable to buy online, but it's still not that impossible to get...

They're $10 each. I'd recommend getting these instead of waiting for FUNimation. They'll be pretty much the same releases, except FUNimation may do four discs instead of five.

This. Initial D is good all the way through and I'm glad to see it getting a U.S. (re)release in its entirety, but there's got to be enough new content out there for a new season soon!

A few months back Funi held a survey to see what people wanted and one of them was a complete re-dub of Initial D, now if you look at the survey it had one other re-dub on it.

SAILOR MOON!!!!

We may see Sailor Moon re-dubbed and complete sometime next year.

That would be so cool! I hope they do that!

They've been saying for a while that they definitely want Sailor Moon, but the license is hard to get.

Also, I'm happy X will be widely available again and I may probably pick up this release for convenience and probably better/smaller packaging, but, erm... it is cheap at Rightstuf.
