The official website of the Beastars anime series revealed two main cast members on Monday. The television anime adaptation of Paru Itagaki's psychological drama manga will air this October on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block and stream exclusively on Netflix.

Legoshi: Chikahiro Kobayashi (Golden Kamuy)

Haru: Sayaka Senbongi (Clockwork Planet)

Shinichi Matsumi (Houseki no Kuni episode director) is directing the series at animation studio Orange, with script by Nanami Higuchi (Little Witch Academia (TV)). Nao Ootsu (Youjo Senki weapon design) is designing the characters, while Eiji Inomoto (Dimension W) is serving as the chief CG director. Satoru Kousaki (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai) is composing the music.

Itagaki launched Beastars in Shounen Champion in September 2016. Akita Shoten published the 14th compiled volume on Monday. VIZ Media licensed the manga in English last year and will release the first volume on July 16.

*cough* Also the females in this manga, even with some obvious humans attributes, are 100x more animalistic in their design then what you'd see normaly in what the medium has shown in these recent years.

(Ex : Loli girls, cute girls looking human BUT with an animal tail and ears)

I don't know about this one... I think I'd be more willing to watch it if they would use normal humans and not animals. Did the author wanted to be original? This seems like some fable or a children fairy tale more than psychological drama.
How is the manga? I'm really not furry so I don't know if I should avoid this or no...

The story wouldn't work at all if they weren't animals by nature though, the urge to fight your own primitive instinct is one of the central themes of the manga.
Also if you like stories with a ton of "twist" (it's pretty well paced), then it is great !

The first pages of the manga are literally a carnivore student eating a herbivore student. This is definitely a psychological series, and not at all related to people who play dress up as animals. Don't be mistaken by the cute promotional character images just released.

Can't wait to watch the anime adaption. The manga is really good.

I also love the choice for Legoshi's voice actor, mainly based on his role as Sugimoto from Golden Kamuy, but I think his voice will work well.

They're anthropomorphic animals who live in a world where they have to coexist while carnivore species have to resist their urges to eat the herbivores, etc. It's a great psychological series, so stop trying to compare it to "furries" aka people who run around dressed up in animal suits. This series is much, much darker than Zootopia (since people keep pointing to that film).

They eat each other, it's part of the story about them fighting their predatory animal urges to maintain a civil society. Think Zootopia + School drama + Romance = Beastars, doesn't mean there's not blood and gore.

Well, at this point, you all can put the animes from +Ultra block to be on Netflix since everything from it is coming to them. Must be a partnership like Amazon had with Noitamina.
