The first episode will have its world premiere at the Anime Expo convention on July 6. The original creator Sayori and director Yamamoto will attend the Nekopara panel for a talk show. Neko Works is also developing a new game in the franchise titled Nekopara Vol. 4: Neko to Patisserie no Noel.

The first Nekopara game launched in December 2014, which was followed by four more games, including sequels and prequels. Sekai Project published the games in English on the Steam platform simultaneously with the Japanese release. The visual novel series has sold over 2.6 million copies.

Sekai Project launched a Kickstarter campaign for an original video animation based on Nekopara in December 2016 and met its initial goal of US$100,000 for a 20-minute episode within an hour. The company promptly announced that an extra 10 minutes will be added to the episode for every additional US$100,000 to a maximum duration of an hour for US$500,000. The campaign ended in February 2017 with over US$900,000, but was extended to reach the final stretch goal of US$1 million for a short anime adaptation of the Nekopara Extra prequel visual novel. Sekai Project formally concluded the campaign after it exceeded US$1.04 million in March 2017.

The one-hour original video animation debuted on the Steam platform last December and was screened at the Akihabara UDX theater last January. The short anime adaptation of the prequel was released alongside the visual novel in July 2018.

A manga adaptation by Tam-U was serialized in Dengeki G's Comic magazine between May 30 and November 30 last year. Kadokawa published the single volume on January 10.

Curious why they changed cast from games/OVA?
Probably because they dont want people to know that this came from porn.

I don't agree with the complaints about. this being PG-13. While the sex scenes were great in the VNs I would hardly call them the centerpoint of the series and most of the content in the game is pretty PG. This series will concentrate on the slice of life aspects of the show, which constitutes 90% of the game. I am usually all for nudity and ecchi, but I think it was smart of the studio to concentrate on the VN's story that made the nekos loveable and memorable to begin with.

Azuki and Maple are best girls. I vote for a hentai OVA series.

Just play the VNs... (but I really like the designs)

I'll never get why porn games are turned into non porn anime. What's the point? There's no story to tell and no characters to show. It's just removing its only reason to exist...
So you wanna see this as hentai instead of non-hentai that's what the sounds like and I disagree with this -____-
Actually I do, just don't get why you getting so upset, about it when this shit has done forever like Clannad as an example you know, like come on.

@Sackeey2 Work on reading comprehension. Not sure if you will understand this sentence though.

An adult visual novel made into a PG-13 anime... Hmmmm I'll skip this. There's no point to watch it.

nup, none of the same VA's will always drag down the score.
+ MAL not mentioning that detail is fishy.

Jun 29, 2019 11:32 PM by Hakisak

this aint worth unless they revamp the story to be less serious and become comedy or some shit.
i like the new artstyle and VA TBH, it is less serious and light.
i have not completed the games because i find the story and character too serious and boring to see.
make the TV way more air headed with better character interaction

Well...its porn

Thats it, not worth my time 😑

To be honest, I'm quite disappointed with the art style. It feels like they made a super cheap looking style so it'll would be easier to animate and it's a shame since it doesn't look as nice as the original.

But I'm still excited for the TV anime and as someone with the biggest cat girl fetish ever, I'm going to love every minute of this anyway

Tom would be elated to hear that. It is his favorite magazine after all.

Jokes aside, much as I like cute stuff this looks completely soulless and hollow. Also too sexualized for my liking.

Well this definitely ain't my fetish.
