More Cast Announced for 'Bem' TV Anime

The official website for LandQ's 2019 television series of Youkai Ningen Bem has announced more cast members, theme song performers, and revealed a new promotional video. The anime will broadcast on TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, and TV Osaka on July 8.

Dr. Recycle: Junichi Suwabe (JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 5: Ougon no Kaze)
Daryl Bryson: Souma Saitou (Akame ga Kill!)
Roddy Walker: Koutarou Nishiyama (Kiznaiver)
Helmut Felt: Daisuke Ono (Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens)

The promotional video features the opening theme "Uchuu no Kioku" and the ending theme "Iruimi," performed by Maaya Sakamoto and JUNNA, respectively.

The original Youkai Ningen Bem series by Daichi Doga aired in 1968 and finished in 1969 with 26 episodes. The new series, which will be directed by Yoshinori Odaka (Skip Beat! episode director) and composed by Atsuhiro Tomioka (Gyakuten Saiban: Sono "Shinjitsu", Igi Ari!), will be part of the 50th anniversary project that began in 2017.

I'm not exactly convinced just yet, based off LandQ's track record, as well as the rather obscure source material and Odaka's lack of chief directorial experience. I have a feeling this will either be great, or a complete disaster. We shall see.

On another note, that upright bass line in the OP was insane. If the entire soundtrack incorporates that kind of jazz, I may watch it for that alone. ;D

The song's producer (lyricist, composer, and arranger) is Ringo Shiina, who also produced Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu OP.

Damn. That was a good chunk of the opening. Love it when PVs do this XD. It’s not the whole thing but I can still jam out to it when the full one comes out. Looking forward to this one. Kinda sounds like Shouwa Genrouku Rakugo Shinju’s opening.

the op sounds really nice, and they got a great cast of seiyuu for the characters. hopefully this ends up being actually good
