'Ahiru no Sora' Unveils Cast, Additional Staff, Opening Theme Performer

The official website of the Ahiru no Sora anime series revealed cast, additional staff, opening theme performer, and the first promotional video on Wednesday. The television anime adaptation of Takeshi Hinata's basketball manga of the same title will premiere in October 2019.

Shingo Tamaki (Aho Girl) is directing the anime at Diomedea, with Keizou Kusakawa (Kantai Collection: KanColle) serving as the chief director. Gou Zappa (Blend S) is composing the series while Yoshino Honda (Fuuka) is designing the characters.

The sports manga has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Magazine since December 2003. Kodansha published the 50th volume last November. Ahiru no Sora has over 24 million copies of its compiled volumes in print.

I know the manga sales were very well received in Japan. I've been waiting for another quality sports anime to watch so I think it'll be refreshing to see.

hopefully there's actually some animation in this series.. kuroko no basket had great animation but the animation did cut corners like skipping from dribbling to a lay up in the next scene like how the PV showed it in the beginning.. I hope we get to see the various great cool street moves that I saw back when I read the manga in full display in the anime..

Hoping the anime would help boost the manga reputation so someone would translate the manga, I heard there's like close to 400 chapters or more current out in raw, but only 138 chapters translated :l It's sad because basketball is like my favorite sports and Ahiru no Sora is like my favorite basketball manga ever.

Kishow play once again as basketball player, but in protagonist team, not like in knb. (As tatsuya himuro)

Again, mamochan and kishow reunion again as teamates after bungou stray dogs as chuya and dazai. (In bungou, they're former partner, this time as teamates)

Senbongi and kaji worked together in vento aureo as trish una and hirose, and with mamochan in kabaneri as mumei, takumi and biba

You have a point but I don't rag on females with the sport genre cause they're the ones who fund the shows. They are clearly the ones buying the the blurays and merchandise for series like Kuroko no Basket and Haikyuu. Unless this series ultimately looks badass and the writing is up to par, I doubt it'll get a long run. Seems like a very elaborate advertisement for the manga which I will not be shocked if it ends around the same time the anime is on the air.

That hit some Kuroko no Basuke nostalgia. I'm willing to watch this just because this might come to be another basketball anime I'll connect with.
We'll see however.

One thought after seeing this news: after Mix, KajiKaji and Uchida-san paired up again for sport anime (Baseball -> Basketball). It even shows in this photo of KajiKaji's Tweet (though there's Konishi-san, too).

Although the manga synopsis is giving me pretty big Hanebado vibes. Hopefully, this anime won't be as bad as that one was
