On the second day of AnimeJapan 2019, it was announced at a special stage event that Shuuichi Asou's Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan series will have a Netflix exclusive anime featuring newly animated scenes. Director Hiroaki Sakurai returns under the production of J.C.Staff and Egg Firm.

Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan originally launched as a one-shot in Shounen Jump NEXT! in August 2010. Weekly Shounen Jump published seven chapters between the 22nd and 50th issues in 2011 before serializing the manga regularly in May 2012. The series ended last February and was subsequently followed by a 4-koma manga and special chapters. Shueisha published the 26th and final volume on August 3 last year.

The anime's first season aired in Summer 2016, followed by a 24-episode second season, and a 50-minute TV special last year.

Sooo, as someone with little knowledge of the series I need some help here. With Netflix only showing a 50 episode count is it a gutted version of 2016 or an extended version of 2018?

I really happy that Netflix go for this series. Anywhere I thought it was only 2 special chapter that take place after the ended follow the manga
but with the Mangaka tweets and JUMP news ... why they told in the same way that Saiki's will get continue like SS3 or something ;w;

Since it almost 30 Chapter left , After I read I found that half of it can't implement as a new Anime because of it related to some recent chapter. but there is many official spin off (I not sure what to call) like 2 light novel , 3DS Game story , Mobile's game story , Saiki Special event's episode (2 times)

so I think it would be possible to go as SS3 ...
but I also possible to go just only 2 After story chapter or with some those 30 chapter (I waitting for many chapter that cut of from SS2)

Anywhere I don't mind which way they gonna do
but I trust in this Director and Seiyuu also I think that Mangaka will join to manage this new too (he also a tsundere guy lol he always do like he know notthing while something already done)

so let wait for a new news!

Right? I seriously have no idea how or why they plan to continue this.

I heard there's about 30 chapters they didn't adapt from the original manga, and there's 2 chapters which take place after where the anime ended.

Ok, if that's true I guess that's something. I might check this out if that's the case since I did really enjoy the series.

Mangaka tweeted and said "there's not much left to animate, is it really alright?"

@LittleStar What you read is what was announced. The official hasn't announced much regarding to Netflix new original anime yet.

Just get confused by "a Netflix original anime featuring newly animated scenes."
But... I'm just stupid.
Gonna wait for more info :D

I don't understand...
I read it many times and I still don't get it.

This gonna have new original story?
Or this will be new animated scenes from manga?
I don't read manga, so I'm not sure if they skipped some parts in manga or not.

Somebody explain...

I'm not holding my breath, but I really hope they animate the Koro-Sensei vs Saiki bonus chapters. Netflix pls.

As a Saiki K fan I'm not sure on this one.
The manga has been covered, so this will be original material, so 'shounen filler' very rarely a good thing, I am truly worried this won't be any good.
Pretty sure the anime skipped chapters though.

anime skiped like 3/5 of content from the manga. they only adapt chapter that has some kind of "development". daily hijink is which most of the series chapter for is like 80% skipped. i would like aggretsuko treatment but on steroids with much more episode number.

so really, this is not strange at all from netflix, and they already has previous seasons. seems like it was more successful than we previously tough.

How many chapters are left to adapt? I hope there is enough content for something substantial.

Netflix is taking a big risk, most of the anime for Netflix are safe bets (anime that will do good in the West and/or is anime that would only be popular outside of Japan), I don't think this is very popular outside of Japan and may be not be the best idea

The show has been on Netflix for quite a while and I'm sure they know better than anyone how much viewership it gets.
