Rugby Manga 'Try Knights' Gets TV Anime

On Thursday, a teaser website was launched for the TV anime adaptation of the manga Try Knights. The TV anime is slated for this summer via NTV. Studio Gonzo will be animating the series.

Actor Shougo Sakamoto will portray the main lead Riku Haruma while KENN (IDOLiSH7) will portray Akira Kariya.

Synopsis
Riku Haruma enters high school without a future in sight. He sees people playing like monsters on the ground, jumping higher than anyone else, running fast, deciding to try their best. There, he sees Akira Kariya playing rugby, a sport he was once passionate about but gave up due to his physique. While Akira is running roughly, Riku gives him a piece of advice without thinking. From that, Riku feels his dying passion for the sport set ablaze, and his future starts to brighten up...

Try Knights has been serialized via Monthly Comic Gene by Senzoku Erizawa, Rihito Takarai, and Shunsaku Yano, with the original plan by Try Knights Union since last June. Kadokawa will release two compiled volumes of the manga on March 27.

NTV will hold an AnimeJapan 2019 stage on March 23. Shougo Sakamoto (Riku Haruma) will attend for the talk show, representing the anime.

This anime is definitely worth the watch. Unlike a lot of comments suggesting that it is gay, there is nothing within the first three episodes to support that it will ever be yaoi.

The anime has me hooked, to the point I can't wait for the next episode to come out and have resorted to turning to the manga.

Hell yeah! That would be awesome. The pacing of cricket would suit really well for having dramatic tension and strategic monologues, etc.

Are they now? I think seeing 2+ boys on a cover is more triggering for people. It's a crisis if these anime guys don't look like real-life sportmen. I didn’t quite understand what you wanted to say, but the hatred of yaoi vibes goes very well with the obsession with yuri vibes since the slash community appeared on the Internet. But I wanted to say not about the hypocrisy of shipers, but that the definition of character sexuality is becoming increasingly weird.

Nah, thanks. The sport is just a disguise to how yaoi this looks.

Something like Supinamarada! is something that feels like a real sports series. And we haven't had an anime concerning ice hockey so, an adaptation of this instead would be much nicer.

Happy for Sakamoto Shogo voicing MC with KENN. Those rugby boys looking fine and lovely plus Takarai Rihito-sensei is involved. I'm so excited!

Too much salt here because bishies playing rugby. I've seen maybe like two anime with pretty boys and bishies playing sports, Prince of Stride and Tsurune. I'm happy to see more.

I like sports anime so I'll watch, but they look nothing like rugby players lol. All Out's body types were more realistic; these guys look like they'll be thrown around all over the field lmao

Agree with cricket. Just imagine our japanese mc going to to IPL, he wins the title then he plays a test match against a pakistani team in pakistan and he delivers a 6 in he final throw to win the match. A cricket anime would be awesome epic.
